If the press this morning are to be believed then we are more interested in Tom Soares than Ben Watson. Can't see us spending the £2m demanded even if Harper goes.

I was having a few drinks with a couple of mates who are Palace fans before yesterdays game and they said Watson was on the bench for the game against Leeds but they are not sure if or when he is leaving. They did say however that Palace seem to be cashing in on players, Scowcroft is being sold which is why he was not involved yesterday and they are also actively seeking bids for Tom Soares which obviously as fans they are not happy about.

he has told warnock he wants to leave - so you can't expect him to play even if there have been no offers for him

No thanks...We have Karacan :)

To be fair Karacan looks like a little gem..
Exactly. And with Matejovski, Gunnarsson and Cisse (eek), there's no room for Watson anyway.

And if anyone can, Kara-can. 8)

the game totally passed Karacan by yesterday, not ready for a regular 1st team spot

He'll pick up the pace the more he plays. He did enough yesterday, didn't let anyone down and had a hand in the 4th. Can't complain!!

Interesting that Watson was not in the squad for the game yesterday and neither was Lita.

Watson will go, prob not to us though.

Linked with a lot of clubs in the papers this weekend, none of them Reading. People rubbish gossip columns, but when was the last time we signed someone we've not been linked with?

Tom Soares was linked with us in one of the Sunday's.

Hmm, it is. But I still think back to what Steve Coppell said in the Fans Forum. Where exactly would Watson fit in?

He would clearly be ahead of Cisse and Gunnarsson. We have Harper who wouldn't be dropped unless his form drops miserably, Matejovsky who should make the first team. Questions over his lightweightedness perhaps when paired with Harps. Karacan too.

Be a great signing if possible though. Lita wouldn't be a great loss. Frightening that Long would get more games though.

twas the 1st time in over a year that i remember our two, competing effectively Vs a 5 man midfield, at any level, with any personellso id say it was encouraging.
with an outlet on either wing it enabled our midfield to do their jobs better, and i think thats been the cause of the malfunctioning midfield, not the CMs.
with that now sussed, i can see the midfield looking better and better

The game regularly passes Harper by, at least it seems to.

How on earth you expected a 19 yo to take control of the game in a 4 man midfield against a 5 man midfield is beyond me.

He did a bloody good job, and set up Doyle's 2nd goal.

Simple. Lita / Watson swap, then Harper out to a Prem club for £2m ish. JM's back-pocket wins, we still have 4 strikers, midfield still looks balanced. Win-win.

Only downside would be Harper moving on, but one could argue that most of the players from his "time" have now moved on, and as part of evolution it is no bad thing.

If that happened over the next 28 hours I will be as giddy as a little girl.

True, but Harper aint going anywhere for £2m. More like £4-5m. We're reluctant to sell, valuations are inflated, hence Boro and Fulham backing off if we're led to believe they backed off.

Backing off = tactical underbidding to prompt potential sale at preferred price from vulnerable counterparty
