"Coppell also rubbished reports that he has made a £200,000 bid for Cork City striker Dave Mooney.

As we revealed last month, Royals’ boss watched Mooney in action and I understand the club is continuing to monitor him. However, they have not as yet made any move for the target man.

Meanwhile Royals are still trying to land a left-sided player.

Sheffield United’s Chris Armstong is keen to join, while Southampton’s Andrew Surman is also a possible target.

Royals are interested too in signing Arsenal’s 18-year-old Kieran Gibbs on loan. They have been in contact with the Gunners, who already have Armand Traore as back-up to first-choice left-back Gael Clichy.

Coppell added: “There is nothing imminent and the search goes on, but it is not a desperate one because it has to be the right player. And we can always get a loan player in after August 31.”

More lies and contradictions from Coppell, first he says he's looking for a left sider, then he want a right sider... :?

Kind of related but not exactly! Did anyone else realise the transfer window has been extended until midnight 1st September?

Gotta say that's a high class article from Nick Ive, I think he has covered every rumour on these pages in that one. Skills.

Note coppell's hopeful of bringing in a 'left sider', not necessarily a left back. I'm guessing gibbs would fit the bill as he seems to be able to play on the wing or at lb.
He is primarily a left winger AFAIK. He's as much a left back as Hunt.

That would be easily good enough. Tidy player, proven at this level and did a steady job in the Prem too. He would do very nicely.

I like Armstrong as a player but his injury record worries me....

I wonder if we're looking to get Armstong and Surman

I'm getting carried away now!

Now Arsenal have got Silvestre as back up for Clichy, how about Armade Traore on loan? He's probably twice the player of anyone else we could hope for.

Has Silvestre actually signed then?

Could be the move required to allow Gibbs to be loaned.

Would seem that they are in the past, has played a consistant number of games over the last couple of seasons.

Stood out as a very capable left back for Sheff Utd and would love him here. Ideal signing at that price too. Just someone we have to wrap in cotton wool as we had to with Kitson.
