I very much doubt that we are paying him £20k a week in the Championship.

If the speculation affects his game then it is up to Coppell to drop him. Although his performances have been somewhat average in the last couple of months he always gives everything he's got, so he's okay in my books. A whole-hearted footballer of limited natural ability, but a damned good pro.
100% spot on Rother.

Bus: I doubt we are paying him £20k/week now. I wouldn't doubt too much that we'd offer him something similar for 6 months to keep him with us 'til the summer.

We are Doyle, maybe change on top.

we have evidence of much lower salaries for players we think could replace what we have, I really dont think that we are paying wages at the £20k a week level, we may have contracts that pay in the future if we go up, but perhaps not yet. i alos think we all agree that Hunt and Doyle are the top earners at the club at the moment

He's def on £20k if not a bit more - Doyle is top earner and thats probably an issue with Shunt

I wouldn't bet on it. I wouldn't bet against Doyle being on £20k or more. But he signed a new contract a few months ago.

It's quite funny all these "in the know" fans who have details of exactly how much individual players are being paid and what they're contracts say.

Yeah that'll be it.

His new contract is a Premiership contract. He gets wages to keep him happy, and we get him for the season. If we don't go up this season, we have agreed to let him leave.

Someone on here that often gets his tit bits right, said only a year ago that Doyle was on £25k in the Premiership. Dropping a division meant the clauses in our players contracts kicked in and their wages dropped. Possibly by half - speculation. His new contract is on improved terms.

I never claim to be in the know. I know people that are though, but rarely do I/we hear much from them, just occasionally.

We gave Doyle that new contract because we were desperate to keep him for one more season, and if we went up, the higher wages weren't a problem, if we stay down, he goes anyway, and does his wage.

But again, speculation...

Certainly is speculation, but as so often is the case, posted orginally as fact.

It looks as though Wigan Athletic will not be bringing Stephen Hunt to the JJB Stadium after all.

Although Reading have had to accept a five million pounds offer for Hunt, due to a clause in his contract, it is being reported that the player himself doesn't fancy the move up north.

In view of this, Latics are now looking towards South Wales for another alternative.

You gotta admit,it's not the most attractive move for him is it? Poor old Wigan, suffering from image issues like that, I do actually genuinely sypathise for them as they're a team that has come up and had the backing to stay a decent amount of time in the top league (if not the crowds and profile).

LOL anyway though.

i know for a fact Doyle was on £27.5k a week in the prem and Hunty 25k

take off the 20% wage decrease because of relegation clause that all prem players have in their contract and you get 20k for hunty
