"I've spoken to Chalrton and they made me an offer," the powerful defender added. "I have told Reading to try and match it."
I think they mixed up Mensah and Sidwell's quotes.
Well, obviously!

And talking of Chronicle errors:
http://icberkshire.icnetwork.co.uk/0275 ... _page.html
GHANAIAN World Cup defender John Mensah has revealed he is considering a move to Reading. Royals have been chasing the 23-year-old centre-back for many months in a bid to bolster their under-manned defence. But Mensah's performances for the Black Cats in Germany have alerted a number of rival Premiership clubs who could trump Reading's offer.
Anthony Smith - what a cLOLwn.
Rumour ... John Mensah

Did see on teletext today that Fulham have his signing "in the bag" Hope that isn't the case but if so, I for one will be getting decidedly nervous !

from the bbc gossip
Fulham are ready to hijack Reading's swoop for Ghana World Cup midfielder John Mensah. (Various)
I hope not. But perhaps wages are a problem.

Hopefully this is old news relating to the misquote from the Chronic site earlier in the week

I just hope that Reading are not going to get 'gazumped' here- Mensah would be a key signing for us, especially as we are in desperate need of a CB. The big problem is who else are we linked with in that position???- Davenport and thats it- i dont want panick buys!

I have a feeling Fulham will sign Sol Chgambell instead.

Fulham have just signed Zakuani and look to be after Emerson Boyce, hopefully meaning they will leave Mensah alone.

Maybe they know Mensah is pretty much set for a move elsewhere, to us, maybe!?
Possible positives from Man City as well with the rumour that Hamann is set to choose them over Bolton. Will they then forget about Sidwell. Charlton also paying £1m last week for Leeds midfielder Simon Walton, ending their interest in Sidwell, maybe.
