We could buy him back couldn't we?
Big, strong, good in the air..................goalscorer, dodgy hair, left footer.........
Perfect replacement for Kits.
Good enough for Wolves & Brum to make bids.

He was no way good enough for the PL and only scored 13 last year.
I would back all three of our strikers to get 15 or more next season if they stay fit. If we buy anyone I wold rather see Maynard or even Simon Cox back.

Long? 15?

If he started the bulk of games I see no reason why not at this level. He had a poor season last year IMO but looked very good at times the previous season.

Only? That's not a bad return.
We could do a lot worse if we wanted to bring in a target man, although bringing him back wouldn't fill me with a lot of enthusiasm.
It's looking like Pardew was right though, if we'd kept him he'd have saved us spending £2m on a similar player a few years down the line!

LOL, we've still not payed £2million on a similar player 5 years down the line.

We might've done if Pardew was still here and we would do if we brought Henderson back

Strikers need games and strikers need time to build partnerships. I would not be surprised in the slightest if Long took his chance this season, got in the team and scored 15 goals.

agreed, Henderson would be a backward step IMO.
If you want to sign a striker we've had before at least go with one that has a good scoring record at this level. Morley, Quinn, Cureton maybe.

Long won't make 15 starts this season, nevermind score 15 goals.

I'll take you up on that for certain if we don't sign another striker, and I'll be seriously considering it even if we do.

Didn't realise Senior had gone to Norway, but agree to having him back despite his lack of hair these days.

When we got promotion with a record number of points and a fantastic number of goals, we did fulfil not andrew1957's prediction of 3 strikers getting 15 goals or more. (18, 18, 11).
When West Brom won it last season, they did not achieve this. Likewise Sunderland the season before and when they were champions in 04/05. That's the teams that won it. I can go and look back at the top scorers in the division if they are different but I get the feeling it will be similar. Furthermore, I doubt we will be either.
Does andrew1957 want to put a tidy wager on it? a small sum to a charity? A beer of his choice? Something small but enough to pin you down to a pretty ridiculous comment.
It is up there with "All three of our strikers will get 10 goals" last season. Ridiculous, almost stupid in its naivity.

no one said that
would happen though did they
theres a difference between saying "i see no reason why any of those three strikers couldnt get 10 PL goals"
and saying "all 3 will definately get >10"
in the same way as there is a difference between saying "brynjar gunnarson is a better player than sidwell, our midfield will be better without him"
and saying "brynn never looked out of place when stepping in for sidwell or harper, there is no reason why he cannot reproduce that form over more games"
