Fully expect the vast majority of games will be local and/or behind closed doors esp if any takeover is still rumbling on.

Just waiting the for the inevitable preseason friendly v the Ox next... No owners and no money so no "exotic" preseason tours, expect a raft of "fill in" friendlies behind closed doors and maybe a couple v local NL sides where fans can actually get to see the U21s.

With the way things are going on the takeover front. will there be a pre-season?

QPR at home is dull, but fully excepting we'll play someone like Swansea at home for the final friendly once again which is even duller.

PSF are dull. They are training games, used to practice formations, bring new signings up to speed and test out the odd trialist, most of whom won't even sign. Would prefer they played them all behind closed doors esp versus the likes of QPR as opening up the game at the SCL will probably end up costing the club money as ticket sales will be pretty low.

Would agree, occasionally interesting if the club rocks up at a local NL side or if they do get a top "elite" side but getting top sides is now impossible as they're not interested in helping lower league sides when they can **** off to other parts of the world and play equally tedious "tournaments" against other elite sides to get ££££££s. Seems these days the best you can hope for is a Bournemouth or Brighton or Brentford or Swansea

They are only decent for the novelty factor, normally away games at NL grounds not too far away that Reading don't normally play at. Home games are ok if it someone we've not played for a while, or a foreign club. Other than that, there's no more appeal that meeting up with mates that you only see at football. It's been a few years since I've bothered.

Quite, plus if you need a football fix, its not like you have much to worry about there this summer and to be honest, its nice to have a bit of a break from it all before the "fun" starts again in August.

Kinda glad we haven't gone for or been offered a high profile friendly and gone for games that are winnable (on the day) to hopefully build momentum ahead of the 10th August (whatever side we have) Imagine we are looking at 2 more games to be announced around the 13th and 20th July.

With all the support shown, I am hoping one of those friendlies is against Basingstoke Town.

Hull are a decent footballing side and this will be a good test against a side that will play their first team. The days of high profile friendlies in the final pre season Saturday are probably over given USA/Middle East owners at the top clubs. IF the current rate of overseas ownership continues to expand its only a matter of time before premier league fixtures are played in USA etc.

At the very least, have the U21s going down there.

Disappointing, but you're probably right. As long as the top clubs decide to play friendlies internationally (they've got no reason to stop that) and against sides in their own division (which has increasingly happened over the past decade or so), there will be less and less opportunity for even Championship sides to have friendlies against top Premier League clubs - let alone a League One side. Still I'm surprised we're playing a friendly against Hull, given the geographic distance between the sides. Maybe it's just the best side we can play against who's available.

Probably suits Hull - means they get to do a "trial" long distance away game before the action starts - pre season isn't just for the players but all the staff and logistics around a side so coming to us gives them a opportunity to test all their away day plans for a game that means nothing.
