Reading sunk to bottom of the Premier League table this afternoon after a third successive league defeat. The Royals have picked up just a single point from their four games so far. West Brom were victorious thanks to a single second half goal as Reading again struggled to create chances. The Royals were improved over their defeat to Spurs last weekend but, despite more possession, looked unlikely to pick up anything from the game after the Baggies took the lead with twenty minutes to play.
Reading's best chance of the fixture was early in the game - a spectaular overhead kick from McCleary. It was a game with few chances that didn't score highly for entertainment but it was the home side that had the majority of action in front of goal. Reading were saved in the first half by the post and McCarthy pulled off a decent save in the second to keep the game goalless. But the winner from Lukaku was a tame effort that saw Reading leave pointless.
