Jordon Mutch Loan Signing Confirmed

31 January 2017
By Hob Nob Anyone?

The signing of Crystal Palace midfielder Jordon Mutch has been officially confirmed by the club. Mutch has been pictured in the usual manner, surrounded by cans of Carabao, as he put pen to paper on his new loan deal. Mutch will be with Reading until the end of the current season - with the possibility of making his transfer permanent in the summer.

Mutch has made 8 appearances for Palace this season but has spent most of his time on the bench after joining Palace from QPR in January 2015. QPR had paid 6 million pounds for Mutch form Cardiff in August 2014. The 25 year old was picked up by Cardiff City from Birmingham City in 2012 after working his way through the England youth squads. His International success saw him move for a transfer fee that was understood to be over one million pounds. Mutch has played for the England U17s, U19s, U20s and U21s after spending his youth at Derby County.

Jaap Stam was pleased to complete the signing and increase the strength of his squad as the Royals look to maintain a promotion push: "Jordon is a good technical player, he is quick and he has good stamina as a runner in midfield. He has a lot of experience of both Championship and Premier League football and it is good to bring a player with his quality into the squad"

Presumably Williams is off, as otherwise I don't feel we need more midfielders.

Hopefully Wieser will be moved on. He seems to be a punt that just hasn't worked out. I'd rather sell William's than lose him for nothing next summer, and Mutch is a top Championship player, so I'd take that.

apparently injury prone and is overweight. Would be a huge risk. Would rather keep Williams and let his contract run down, as we'd get more for promotion than we would for his transfer fee and if he leaves on a free its another big earner off the books

Mutch was at the Bristol City game being shown around the ground. Seems there's genuine interest in him and it could be quite advanced.
