Rahman Returns On Season Long Loan

31 August 2022
By Hob Nob Anyone?

Baba Rahman has returned to the club after his loan spell with Reading last season. The Chelsea left-back re-joins on a loan that will run until the end of the current season. Rahman played 29 times for the Royals last season and will now play for Reading more than any other club in the 28-year-old's career. Rahman, a Ghana international, signed for Chelsea from Augsbury in 2015 for a massive 21.7 million pounds but has only made 23 appearances for Chelsea and spent most of this time out on loan while on Chelsea's books.

Apaz we are interested in getting him on loan again this season. Would be happy with this tbh looked solid at lb last season when fit. Thoughts?

Yep, would take him back, if available.

Depends how much of his wages Chelsea would want us to pay. If it's more than £10k a week I'd rather look elsewhere.

Part of a dreadful back 4 and often looked unfussed, if played ok.
I don't like a player we have bugger all hope of making perm being loaned 2 years in a row.
I'd rather we looked for someone we could develop and sell on. But if the options are bare, he'd be ok.
We do need two LBs though.

No thank you.

Would be happy to have him back, obviously a very decent player.

If Chelsea are funding his wages it really is a no brainer.

A player with a good touch and fine going forward.

Unfortunately, like a lot of full-backs, he is not so good on the defensive side and looking at our defensive record last season maybe we need a defensive minded player in that position.
Would only like him to return if we are going to play 3 at the back with wing-backs.

Agreed. I was disappointed with the defensive side of his game.

I’m not sure why Chelsea gave him a new contract if they are to loan him out and subsidise his wages still
Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me

Chelsea are a club of a ‘million’ loan players, they support the entire EFA pyramid, nobody else can have them, unless it’s under their Ts & Cs
Hurrah for Chelsea…we’ve benefitted from their business model over the years.

We should never have let Jordan Obita go..

» 14 Jun 2022 19:01

Whenever I’ve seen him play, he looks like someone who knows he’s too good for that level & is just coasting, happy to not really achieve much in his career.
Not sure he’s the sought we want for another relegation scrap. If the cb area was solid enough I wouldn’t be too against it, but it’s shit, so we need our fbs to at least put some bloody effort in

If not Baba then who would you prefer who would realistically come here that's a better alternative?

Chronic now reporting that we have made no contact with Chelsea about Rahman.

» 15 Jun 2022 08:59

It was being reported that the player and club would prefer a permanent move out of Chelsea, which would rule us out of contention.

Reported again today by Ghana Soccernet that he will choose between us and WBA for the season despite interest from France and Germany.

Would be delighted with Lewis. Surprised he hasn’t gone elsewhere tbh

Whilst he's not perfect, I'd be disappointed if anyone ousted NGW now. Looking really promising.

Came here to say this.
After a shaky start is now absolutely a dead cert starter for me.

To be fair I don't know why anyone would choose a UK championship club over any National team, but especially the likes of France and Germany.
