URZ - Number Thirteen - The Royals Fans CD

It’s been another fantastic season for Reading Football Club, and to celebrate the achievements of the past year, a motley crew of season ticket holders and seasoned ticket holders have gathered together to give vocal support to Reading FC in their push to the Premiership via the Play-Offs.

Reading Football Club has exceeded all expectations this season in reaching the play-offs. Most fans would have settled for mid-table consolidation in their first year back in Division One, and many in their heart of hearts considered an immediate drop back into Division Two a real possibility. However, under the guidance of Alan Pardew and his Magic Hat (along with his trusted assistants) the 2002-2003 season has been one of unbridled success, with a young team playing some exceptional football, backed vociferously by record-breaking crowds at the Madejski Stadium.

As a mark of appreciation for the marvellous efforts put in by the team, a song has been put together by some fans that should appeal to Reading Fans Everywhere. Featuring members of the Beard Band on horns, URZ is a mix of Ska, Samba and Soul, with the obligatory Yob Chorus thrown in for good measure. It is a reply to all those rallying for a song to sing at matches, a celebratory reveille to rouse supporters and the team alike. It is the principal aim that the tune will be adopted as the fans own, not just for the play off’s but for years to come.

The B-side features a dub remix (The Skadejski mix) along with “Shaka – What’s The Score”, a classic from 1995, originally released on blue vinyl and now available on cd for the first time.

Reviews!

"I bought it on the off chance and think it's great, easy to sing, immediately catchy and well worth 75p of balloons! [we're using the profits to buy play-off balloons!] Shame its not available as a ringtone yet...or is it?"
-- Keith Marino
