Dull No Score Draw Against Brighton

Reading's mediocre return to the Championship continued with a 0-0 home draw against Brighton at the Madejski Stadium. In a poor game, neither side impressed and what little entertainment there was, was supplied by a suspect refereeing performance that saw both sides reduced to 10 men inside the first half. Pogrebnyak's disappointing season continued as he picked up a second yellow card with just over half an hour played, thanks to a dive, to receive his marching orders and a future suspension. Who knows where Reading's goals are going to come from after such a huge failure in the transfer market. At least we managed to keep a clean sheet.

Brighton were down to ten men themselves just eight minutes later as Ulloa's challenge was judged dangerous enough for a straight red. Neither side took advantage of the extra space on the pitch in the second half with few chances for either side. Adkins appears happy to get his side playing passing football around the back but it is, so far, sadly ineffective in this division. It is going to be very interesting indeed to compare Reading's style against Brian McDermott's style as his sixth placed Leeds United side visit on Wednesday night.
