Re: Summer Rebuild

You boys do realise that paying transfer fees have a pretty negligible impact on profits (and hence FFP) right? Any money spent on buying players just goes straight onto the balance sheet and only hits the P&L through amortisation which on a yearly basis will be only a fraction of the cost. The...

Re: Madejski Sold out and failed again

Think what you will of him, Madejski, together with Coppell on the football side, has been the most successful influencer on Reading FC since 1871.

Hopefully the latter. We should wish death on nobody. Equally hope he never shows up alive or not at our place again. Waste of space.

Re: Out of contract players.

Ian Royal I'm conscious that Fed will have been one of our best payed players going into the PL, Gunter signed for it, Kelly signed in it. All likely to have fair old wages. Wage budget is likely to be tight for some time. That's what my starting point would be at least.

Fair enough.

Re: Out of contract players.

Pearce - offer slightly reduced wages, 2 year deal Federici - offer slightly reduced wages, 2 year deal Kelly - offer reduced wages, 2 year deal Karacan - offer very reduced wages with a significant appearance fee, 1 year deal - auto extension to bring it to 3 years at an improved basic rate and lo...

For any supporter with memories of Phil Parkinson this is a miracle draw, almost regardless of the SF prospect. We can't lose.

Re: Back from the stream (Derby)

Glad to be through but.................. Cox - You weren't good enough for us first time around. You're lucky we had shit manager who was prepared to spend money on you. Obita - You aren't a winger and you aren't a full back. You're not going to make it, I'm afraid. Blackman - you are just that. No...

Re: Sheff Weds (h) prediction thread

Royalwaster Added spice to the game now that Sheff Weds have been taken over by Thais too .... a bit of Thai Curry?! Got 0:0 written all over it.

And more to the point, taken over by one single Thai business man, not by a rag tag of individuals.

Please, this is a no-brainer. Anyone with a sense of history about the Club will want Bradford and Phil Parkinson at home.

Re: Hal-Robson Kanu

There were actualy two occasions in the bolton game... both with mills the defender. I wouldn't say hrk was favourite to get to the ball first, but he had a high probability of winning a free kick at least. And probably a yellow for mills. He bottled both. Yes, I think that "bottled" is t...

Re: Hal-Robson Kanu

My opinions are speculative, based mostly on what I read and see from streamed pictures, because I don't get to games these days. But FWIW I suspect that this player lacks courage, both physical and mental. He does not seem to go in for a brave tackle, nor commit to beating a defender when it looks ...

Re: Middlesbrough (H) - Match Thread

Since I can't get to Reading of late I am always glad to pick up these snippets of information about our games. Thanks to all.

But can anyone tell me why this Robson-Kanu appears in the team. Have not seen a positive word about his performances.

Trevor Senior 153 League goals , 31 cup goals - total 184 goals Ron Blackman 158 League Goals, 15 Cup goals - total 173 goals
And pre-war is often ignored in reckoning these things, I think.
Ronnie Blackman did not play pre-war, first featured in late 40's or early 50s IIRC. Re: Ownership situation

I'm not saying all is perfect, I just don't get why people like you go looking to borrow trouble when there's no need to. Worry when something shit happens, not every time you over-analyse every tiny mundane little detail looking for some hidden meaning. It's not like you can do shit all about it a...

Re: RFC 2014/15 Promotion push watch

I'd love to see Bournemouth and Brentford in the Prem. Yes, they have been big rivals of ours for years and there are probably 18 Championship clubs that think they are "bigger" but the pyramid structure of English league football is all about clubs being able to better themselves. To see...

Re: Adkins Sacked - Not a Wind Up

Interesting that Rodgers is being "found out" at the same time at Anfield. Being a successful football club manager these days takes more than a stylish form. Vision beyond obvious fashion, recognition of talent, guts and resilience..for a few.
