Re: Arsenal game thread - brought to you by Thai Airways

Don't post a ton here, but I'll definitely be watching today from Milwaukee, WI USA (home of Andrija Novakovich). My local pub is called The Highbury, and appropriately enough, it will probably be about 100-150 Arsenal supporters and one guy wearing blue and white hoops with "Friday 9" emb...

SLAMMED
royalfanforever !-0 win I think.

Not sure how we'll score an exclamation mark

Perhaps by "shift"ing our formation?

Re: Team for Sheff Utd

akpan.... baseya 2.0 Only Akpan's actually played a Premier League game and got an assist... Was that really counted as an assist? If so, it would have to be one of the least intentional assists in Premier League history. You can almost hear his thought process... "What a chance...wait, where'...

Would love Lichaj from Villa. I think he's got lots of upside, and I love seeing Yanks in the Reading strip. I miss Hahnemann and Convey :(

Re: The Great Escape

Yesterday was brilliant, largely because I felt prescient. Was at the local pub where pretty much all manner of supporters assemble. There were 2 Newcastle fans there and myself supporting the Royals. About 15-20 minutes in, one of the Toon fans said "your keeper is saving you, we've been domin...

Re: SIGNED - Hope Akpan

Akpan looked a bit out of his depth, but it was to be expected. Clearly the best thing he did was the whiff that fell to ALF, but he wasn't awful in the midfield. Made a few tidy passes and seemed willing to accept a role rather than trying to do it all at once. Hope Hope continues to improve, but I...

Re: Negotiations ongoing - Tom Rogic

Celtic may play in the champions league, but even championship level is better football than he'll be exposed to 90% of the time  Honestly, I think that was part of the point. Read an article about another Australian who thought Reading was a poor fit because of the physicality you encounter i...

melonhead renew

2 years.

roberts is finished imo. church is gone. need 4 strikers.

This

Unless we have some better option walking through that door, he's a solid Championship contributor and useful squad player at this level.

Re: On Trial - Stoppila Sunzu

I'm a big fan of signing guys that people think are too good for us. Hopefully that means he's good enough to help keep us up or at worst help engineer a quick turnaround back to the Prem if we can't avoid the drop.

Re: If we service the strikers....

No offence, but are you sure you aren't confusing Shorey and Harte? Shorey hasn't been shown up for pace very often (even though he's clearly not lightning) and his delivery has been very good, directly creating four goals this season. I've been disappointed with both of them. Setpiece delivery has...

Re: If we service the strikers....

Double edged sword. McAnuff and Kebe haven't generally provided enough quality service, but they also have been stuck back because the fullbacks have been bad. Either we need better wing options that can competently play both ways or we need fullbacks that can capably defend and not rely on help fro...

Re: The Great Escape

Can we? Yes. Will we? Not so sure. It's encouraging that we have a better goal differential than Villa or Wigan and that we get both of them, QPR, and Southampton at the MadStad. We could use another player. I'd like to see another midfielder that can help with possession and delivery. I have confid...

Re: Are we the most entertaining side in the PL this season?

Speaking from the other side of the pond where everyone is either a Man U or Arsenal fan, we have earned some respect. Most of the people I talk to say that they hope we stay up. Of course, these are also people that are usually only watching when it is crazy for us. The game at Old Trafford, the cu...
