Re: The Tommy Smith Thread

Right, it looks as if we've lost that Barnsley ganme so Brendan should take the next 10 minutes out and get on the blower to Tommy Smith and beg him to join us. If he refuses then good old Brendan can use those brilliant man management skills and irish powers of persuasion; "Hey Tommy, you're ...

Just for anyone who missed this at the bottom of the previous page..... He's passed his medical according to the yellow breaking news bar on Sky Sports News. You realise WR that, if that's true, then it's the first bit of "new" news for about 30-odd pages of this thread.... and tha...

Re: The Tommy Smith Thread

yet it's only now that we find ourselves in that situation when we have been at it for what, 6 weeks now? ...except that the reason it's taken 6 weeks is nothing at all to do with this negotiation process, and everything to do with the fact that we were not willing to make a sensible move until we ...

LOL @ most people on this thread when he signs in the next 48 hours Not really. Old John knows the supports are turning volatile towards him, not the team, and not the manager. Enjoying a good old-fashioned HNA "looking forward to" thread... as light relief from every other thread on here at the moment re sacking the board/manager after just four games.

Re: Rogers must go? (POLL)

Fascinating coming back to HNA after a week without internet access - I see the doom and gloom merchants are out in full force, with the usual attitude - why bother with some perspective when a knee-jerk reaction is more fun? I pretty much agree with everything Royalee said earlier (except for the R...

Re: Good chants

Most chants, by their nature, are utter rubbish, IMHO... but I liked the "let's all do the Chelsea" chant the first time I heard it at the Madstad, especially as the stadium was rocking at the time and the fact that everyone seemed to join in.

Re: Rumour: James Harper (talks with Wolves confirmed)

Because most times you buy a player, you're buying out their contract 'worth' not necessarily the player value. A player on a 3 year contract is worth a lot more than a player with less than a year left. It's why contracts (partly) exist, to inflate the price - hence the price for Doyle and SHunt b...

Re: Rumour: James Harper (talks with Wolves confirmed)

I've never wanted us to spend big for the sake of it. I am just of the belief that if we could have spent a bit of the transfer money/ TV money we'd received during last season, we might have been able to avoid relegation. The chairman has always made it clear he doesn't want to spend big - inc on ...

Re: Rumour: James Harper (talks with Wolves confirmed)

I'm still at a loss why we would only offer £750k for a player it appears was valued by his club at £1.8 million. Because most times you buy a player, you're buying out their contract 'worth' not necessarily the player value. A player on a 3 year contract is worth a lot more than a player with less...

Re: Team for the Toon

Alan Partridge I'd play the same team as last week except for Long instead of Church. Maybe Mills could come in for Cisse.

Subs
Hamer
Gunnarsson
Bignall
N Hunt
Matejovsky
Harper
Mills/Cisse

Ditto... and I suspect that's what BR may do, apart from Marek (now he's fit) maybe getting the nod over Davies.

Re: Rumour: James Harper (talks with Wolves confirmed)

You are a bully on here Royalee, you really are a horrible person. I wonder if you're like that in real life or it's just the persona that you use to hide you're inadequacies in everyday life. You have you're opinions, great. Everyone has their opinions, that's what football is all about. You seem ...

Re: Stephen Hunt to Hull - fee agreed

Confirmed on OS. Bye Hunty, thanks for the good times when you were brilliant - a little fiery bundle of energy, passion and commitment. With all three of those things missing last season, there was little you had to offer and you were struggling to justify your place in the team, even with no natur...

Royal Lady I must take exception to Partridge's comments. I rather enjoyed Hetty Wainthrop Investigates.

Some people enjoy sticking things up their cock. It doesn't make it good.
Don't knock it until your've tried it.

Re: Stephen Hunt to Hull - fee agreed

One of our best players of the last few years when in form. BUT too much of an ego and not enough brains. A player who whilst trying to prove himself was so determined and confident in his play that everything came off for him. He tried pretty much anything and that frightens defenders, but he was ...

Kevin Doyle is the player that I held in the highest regard and had the most respect for. A man who wor...

Re: New Signings ?

The Sun (a reliable source if ever there was one) say we're in for Tyson (at £1m), which might have a glimmer of truth given Buck's comment about "bringing in 2-4 players that I've worked with before".

Well, yes... but it's a bit early in this thread to bring any objectivity into the argument. We usually have a good few pages of mindless ranting before we do that!
