Re: BFTT Barnsley

I don't think the pitch helped last night - ball seemed to bobble a hell of a lot. No excuse for a shoddy performance but may have had some impact.

Re: CONFIMRED - Charlie Adam

Ranted in the match thread but his love of cross field hollywood passes also massively irritates me. They are good and look great but sometimes (often) the best pass is the simple one. Invariably slows down play and become far too predictable. Can't criticise him too much as he probably was the bes...

Re: BFTT Barnsley

Agreed. Five at the back is too restrictive. I really want us to play authentic wingers as well. Works with decent wingbacks. Sheffield United play it with two high flying wingback (both on the scoresheet on Sunday against Norwich) Ours simply aren't. You can play Yiadom/Gunter/Obita/Richards or wh...

Re: Rival Watch

Did some scouting last night ahead of Saturday - Stoke didn't really need to be at their best to beat what I would consider to be one of the poorest teams to grace the division since Yeovil, Burton and Scunthorpe (in their second seasons). Shawcross taken off early doors will have been a blow . Inc...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (a) sponsored by Simon Osborn

Away to bottom of the league... but a bad feeling about this one... Drab 1-0 loss, goal in the 78th minute Negative. Bad feelings usually imply negativity, yes Chance to climb above Charlton (with a game in hand) and move 7 points clear of the bottom 3 and 12 of Barnsley - is exactly the type of ga...

Seems very much a 2+2 story but I'm sure if enough money is offered we'd consider it.

Re: Nostalgia thread

Does anybody remember the Royals Rendezvous? Did one corporate thingy there, terrible atmosphere, but probably reflective of the time. Were Mr and Mrs Kearney the hosts ? As I was one of the hosts I volunteered to walk round to the “prawn” sandwich entrance,so my “guests” could catch the bus (really ...

Re: BFTG Birmingham

Also - that was poor goalkeeping from Raphael. He literally had to just jump to save as he was way over that side, infact you could argue he was to much over. He is not a goalkeeper who seems to be able to dive and fly through the air for those high shots. He shifted his weight to the left just bef...

Re: Euro 2020

With Russia being banned by WADA for 4 years today, I assume they will have to be removed from Euro 2020 and hosting rights removed from St Petersburg? Looks like it will just be the World Cup in 2022. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/50710598 Despite the ban, Russia will be able to compete at ...

How good are Leicester looking ? Good football, lethal upfront and solid at the back Yeah like last time they've got me watching MotD again. Really enjoy their counterattacking Massive Christmas for Leicester. They are the real deal though aren't they? 8 straight wins now. The play Norwich next - s...

West Ham (a)
Man City (H)
Everton (a)
Bournemouth (a)
Chelsea (H)

left this year. Need to pick up a win or two there else they could be in trouble esp if Everton and West Ham beat them.

Re: CONFIMRED - Ovie Ejaria

On the deal, it really depends on if it's an agreement with Liverpool for first option on a set fee and an agreement in principle on a contract with Ovie. If it is, then like Murray, Ovie can just decide not to sign the contract with us and it doesn't matter what we have agreed with Liverpool. And ...

Do PL linos ever drop down to the EFL for games, like refs occasionally do?

Would be interesting to see how they cope shifting to a non-VAR environment and back again.

And again. Sheffield Utd players stop completely because of linesman. Play the whistle, I know, but it’s just another shambles To be honest, I really can’t stand VAR but that’s down to the players 100%. It’s schoolboy stuff not to play to the whistle Yep not a VAR thing but can understand why playe...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

FC Saarbrucken, of the German fourth tier, sacked their manager despite being top of the league. Dirk Lottner was given the boot after two consecutive league defeats, with his record prior to that having been 13 wins and one draw, as well as the side beating FC Koln of the Bundesliga in the cup. Cl...

Re: TV rights

Another means of making access to the game more expensive under the cloak of more choice. More choice means you have to subscribe to more channels - multiplying the cost of watching. I can see the day that we stop watching altogether. We're already down to one (non-free-to-air) source. I guess the ...

Re: FA Cup 3rd Round Draw

Why is everyone acting like we are through already? Blackpool are a perfectly capable side who are two points off third in League One. I would want to see as strong a side as possible starting. Gnanduillet is a huge threat. Literally no-one is - all people are saying is they would like us to play s...

Re: FA Cup away day memories

Slough in 1991 - remember the PA announcer asking the Reading fans to stop jumping up and down as the wall at the front of the terrace was (and did) collapse. Was a bit of a conspiracy theory going around at the time, that the club had thrown the game to allow Slough a money-spinning replay - though...
