Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

I think the problem was the majority of fans appeared to chose to stick to the belief that Pompey deserved it and Reading dont. Polarised views attract polarised views from both sides and hence the animosity. Both clubs completely deserved the problems they've had. What does a club do to deserve th...

Pepe the Horseman I'd like us take the Portsmouth approach and wish death on anyone that's ever wronged us.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Portsmouth (a)

Thank you. Hadn't realised you'd had a restricted capacity for as long as that and certainly explains why you've not had any 20,000+ crowds since the Premier League. The home sell outs were why I was surprised by you not having any 20,000+ crowds. I imagine your game against Derby will no doubt hav...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Portsmouth (a)

My comment was hopefully obviously tongue in cheek re: us being big club :) Congrats, a cracking place from what I can see and a decent team to match. All the best! It wont be long until you are sorted and we will be back locking horns, hopefully in the Champ and who knows maybe the Prem. It might ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Portsmouth (a)

And what guarantee do you have for the future? The current owner might be fine, but what of the future? When he dies/gets taken ill/loses interest etc, etc? It just strikes me as a real tragedy that PST struggled for so long and it dominated the lives of some of the individuals concerned for so lon...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Portsmouth (a)

I hope you manage to find yourselves owners as decent as ours. You had the best owner it was possible to have, after so much hard work and dedication from so many fans - and then you voted to sell to an outsider. I find that decision absolutely astounding and so very short-sighted. We had no future...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Portsmouth (a)

Of course, finding ourselves in this league, playing a massive club like Reading is like a World Cup final for most of these League One clubs. Tbf, wasn't it just because they have recently finished a redevelopment and so they had a bigger capacity? They're top of the league after a horror decade, ...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

There's a few differences. There was already a general dislike of Pompey because of their BELLend and South coast proximity that frequent had us as poor relations in the media. Plus what was previously referenced. That's specific club to club, not generic across all clubs. Then there's that we got ...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

Think the general disdain at the time for Pompey was rife across a lot of supporters of other clubs because of how they'd got themselves into such a mess, but probably what really wound the Reading support up the most was the seeming failure to take their last game of the 2007/8 season v Fulham ser...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

Thats not just what was sung about Pompey though was it. It was constant "Party and cakes when Pompey die", "Let em die" and many other chants, my personal favourite "We're embracing fiscal prudence" (oh, the irony) and together with that thread it was pretty clear the...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

Derby fans seem to be very vocal in their dislike of Reading, which could make next week interesting. Portsmouth too, where somehow singing "pay up, Pompey" means we wanted them to go bust, rather than a comment on them avoiding debts by going into administration. In truth, if Derby sing ...

Re: “ Sell before we Dai “ supporters action group v2.2

A protest march before the Pomps game could prove interesting. Anybody on here remember, going back in time, when Y25/26 were taunting Pompey fans with "Who's that coming over the hill, is it the tax man, is it the tax man?" Alongside "This is your funeral, this is your funeral"...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Peterborough United (h)

Everyone likes a big day out in a nice stadium vs a big club. Especially if they're likely to win. I dont think I have ever heard Reading described as a big club before 20 years above L1, 24k seater stadium. Seasons in the PL. Multi million transfer records. Category One Academy and first class tra...

Snowflake Royal
Royal_jimmy Peterborough have filled GU1-GU3 pretty much. Fair play to them. We are charging their fans up to £29 a ticket.

Re: Gate figure conspiracy-gate?

Well, every home game at Fratton the attendance is announced as circa 18k. The ground always looks full, apart from the away end. Not sure if this helps :D What would help is if this Reading FC forum actually had Reading FC fans on it, not Pompey scum so do one m8 Touchy :o And how would that help ...

Re: Financial Fair Play Initiative: the fans' view

The Saints on the other hand do not seem to be that unsustainable. They fell down the leagues, rebuilt based on a good youth team and have few stars on big wages. We are more likely to follow the Norwich or Swansea model than QPR (I hope!) Saints are currently running at 93% trunover on player wage...

Re: Financial Fair Play Initiative: the fans' view

All Pompey fans who lined the streets when they won the FA Cup in 2008 - were you one? - should be thoroughly embarrassed now when they look back at that victory, because it was tainted in the same way that Ben Johnson's win in the Seoul 100 metres was tainted; also, were you one of those Pompey fa...
