Re: marek back in reserves

Marek would cause aboslute havock in this league and the strength of Reading will just be reinforced. However him coming back does come at a price and sadly i think Jem will be the one who will pay, not because he is bad its just because Jem and Marek are 2 very similar players and Gunnar is that s...

Re: WORLD FINANCIAL MELTDOWN

Avon, I agree that they are unlikely to go under. All I'm saying is that nothing would surprise me for the next year or so. Also, borrowing money won't prevent them getting a credit downgrade. They need their own sustainable cahflow to do that. Not borrowed cash from elsewhere.

Re: WORLD FINANCIAL MELTDOWN

AIG are in trouble which could impact Man U The chances of AIG going under are less than zero. Chances would have been considered less than zero for Bear Stearns and Lehman Bros as well but they went under. Merrill Lynch is looking for a takeover deal with BOA and AIG has asked the Fed for short te...

Re: WORLD FINANCIAL MELTDOWN

Only know for sure on the K side as have a good friend working there at upper management level. Waitrose amount is a guess based on what Reading were looking for from K when they came back. Have to say it isn't a lot of money even for a Championship side. However, hard to work out what the value is ...

Re: WORLD FINANCIAL MELTDOWN

John Lewis (Waitrose) business down 27% this year. I believe that we only got around £200k plus discounted food and beverages to be sold at the Stadium so we should survive :-) Kyocera were paying far more than that though so the falling revenues bit is still relevant. Albeit that this fall was rel...

WORLD FINANCIAL MELTDOWN

The impact is starting to works it's way through to the world of football. XL has hit West Ham, AIG are in trouble which could impact Man U, the recession will hit gate receipts, TV subscription and merchandise sales. Advertising revenue will tumble as companies tighten their belts. SKY will bid sig...

Re: Rumour - Hunt

All well and good RR but what about y/e June 2008? Presumably income will have risen again with even more Sky money for that year and presumably staff costs will not have risen by much so with Kitson's sale and ? Shorey's I would expect a significant increase in profit. How will the sales of Kitson...

Re: Rumor - Lita to porsmouth

TBH I wouldn't want Little back. I'm beginning to think Glen did us a favour by getting 'arry to pay for his pension fund. TB Agreed. I think it was becoming a bit like the Nicky Forster situation - too injury prone and on high wages. Anyway, on recent evidence, Kebe looks like he'll grow into bein...

Re: Confirmed - Sonko to Stoke

The best piece of transfer business the club has done in ages, :D , £2 million for an absolute liability is excellent news. A real positive to come out of this is that Pearce really goes up the pecking order now. Perhaps a new centre-back pairing of Pearce and Bikey for the long term? The club stil...

Re: Team for Crystal Palace

Armstrong must come in with Hunty pushing on into midfield. That energy in midfield brings far more positives than any risk from Stretch only having a couple of days at the club. I think Pearce can be our number one centre back and I'd put him in on Saturday but it would be with Ingi. Pearce is goin...

Re: Back from the game

James Henry put in a very eye-catching performance. Very good running with the ball at his feet. Some very good crosses too. 'greed. At the start of the season I thought RM was where we were weakest. But Kebe has impressed, Henry looks very capable back up, and Hunt N could play there as well. Henr...

Re: Back from the game

Very impressed with Noel Hunt tonight. Very good in the air, uses the ball well and keeps it. Looks a great buy for us. Also thought Pearce and Karacan really pressed a claim tonight. I think Cisse is a centre back so unless Bikey comes into CM on Saturday then I'd go with Karacan. Pearce in for Son...

Re: 11762 season tickets renewed

We may end up with 11,762 and we may end up with +13,000. The good news is that these loyal royals are pretty much certain to turn up every week. Used to make me chuckle last year when they announced a +24,000 crowd with hundreds of empty seats (season ticket holders who came to Man U, Chelsea, Arse...

Re: clear out of centre backs

Now it takes an old striker like me to be a good judge of a centre back :-) For what it's worth BIKEY - Can be whatever he wants to be. The odd lack of concentration is all he has to overcome. I first realised this when he had John Carew in his back pocket all afternoon in the 2-0 home win over Vill...
