Speculation: Lewis Baker

Sent back to Chelsea by Düsseldorf: https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours-news/2020/1/22/21077168/fortuna-dusseldorf-sends-lewis-baker-back-to-chelsea Apparently went AWOL just before Christmas. We’re well stocked for central midfielders, but he’s better than what we ha...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

At the moment I wouldn't really blame any of our youngsters wanting to drop down a tier or 2 to develop. Especially if they are 20 or under. Nolan has probably seen what's happened/happening to Barrett, Loader, Olise, McIntyre, Southwood, Osho, East, Frost, Howe, Watson, House etc. And decided his ...

Re: Chant Lyrics

It's always been a bit of a bugbear of mine that the we do not have a song synonymous with our club. Y'know, a song that other clubs' fans would instantly recognise as ours, (and get their back up hearing it). Think about singing it at the County ground or Kassam.... So many of the other songs are ...

Who even are Reading anyway? It's the sort of place you forget has a football team.

He’s not wrong, but that’s a bit rich coming from Blackpool.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Millwall (a) sponsored by Eamon Dunphy

Would play Puscas in this one, Baldock on the wing. Agree, Ejaria is wasted on the left and Baldock doesn’t have enough to play as a lone striker. Adam has proven himself to be a viable option but let’s play everyone in their best positions. Could also try Obita on the left but think that’s harsh o...

Re: BFTG - Blackpool

Agree with most of this, Olise while not brilliant was certainly trying to be creative. Thought Burley did all right too, though showed a few nerves (understandably). 6 academy boys starting, 7 finishing, has that happened before in any match other than the League cup? We played away to Middlesbrou...

Re: BFTG QPR

Ejaria didn’t have a good game on the left, but there’s no room for him centrally. I’d start Boye or Olise there as they should offer a bit more end product and support for the striker. Alternative is going back to 3-5-2 with Blackett at centre back, Obita and Gunter as the wing backs, and Swift jus...

Re: BFTG - Derby

I agree with first poster on here. We were lucky to be honest and 3 nil flattered us. I'll go through each half and then do player ratings. 1st Half When I saw the line up for us I was shocked at how little defensive cover and mobility we had in the middle. We started brightly and João setup Meite ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Didn’t watch and haven’t been following that closely but there are a few that seem to have stalled a bit Thinking Pendlebury, Nolan and Lawless particularly. Any truth in that? From what i have seen Lawless is the best prospect of the 3 mentioned. He has been injured this season and has only just c...

Re: Reading FC team of the decade

Blackman has to be in contention, outside that run of 10 games where he was unplayable he was utter utter pony. And he cost us £1.5m when that still meant something.

Re: BFTG Wigan

And if Cook is moaning about the quality of player on our bench then maybe he should be reminded that he manages a club that stayed in the Premiership for nigh on 10 years and won an FA Cup on the strength of buying England internationals on crowds of 11,000 in the Premiership. In fairness, those E...

Re: January Transfer Window

I think people are being excessively harsh on Pele to be honest, he's a good option to have now we've stopped faffing around with the ball Infact right now I'd have Pele ahead of Rino as the holding midfielder (if we were to play 5 at the back still) More control of the midfield that way and it sho...

Re: January Transfer Window

I’d have Baker deepest, taking the ball off the centre backs. Rino and Ejaria in the middle using their energy. Then Swift is the best goal scorer so push him up behind Puscas.

Saying that, don’t think you need to play all four. Lots of advantages to having four options for three spots.

Re: Reading FC team of the decade

Roberts would be competing with NHunt for the fourth spot in my squad. Long and Kermorgant have obviously been better and Le Fondre’s threat from the bench was immense. All of them disadvantaged because Sigurdsson means we can only use one striker. Unless we play some sort of 3-4-1-2... but presumab...

Re: Reading FC team of the decade

Julian Kelly only made one appearance for us this decade, in a league cup match against Northampton. We have been quite well stocked for right backs. Despite his redemption I think Cummings is the obvious choice, crap when we first signed him and then woefully out of depth after we got promoted. Com...

I thought Stam’s season was the best Gunter played for us tbh. But then I’ve never really understood the hatred he inspires.

Re: Reading FC team of the decade

To be clear, talking about Ryan Edwards rather than Dave. I initially had Jake Taylor down for that spot but remembered him doing better than Edwards when they were both in the side. Other option was Cywka but he barely played at all. Baird is a great shout. Also Ezatolahi, Alex Fernandez. Think I’d...
