Re: Reading FC team of the decade

Blackman has to be in contention, outside that run of 10 games where he was unplayable he was utter utter pony. And he cost us £1.5m when that still meant something.

Re: BFTG Wigan

And if Cook is moaning about the quality of player on our bench then maybe he should be reminded that he manages a club that stayed in the Premiership for nigh on 10 years and won an FA Cup on the strength of buying England internationals on crowds of 11,000 in the Premiership. In fairness, those E...

Re: January Transfer Window

I think people are being excessively harsh on Pele to be honest, he's a good option to have now we've stopped faffing around with the ball Infact right now I'd have Pele ahead of Rino as the holding midfielder (if we were to play 5 at the back still) More control of the midfield that way and it sho...

Re: January Transfer Window

I’d have Baker deepest, taking the ball off the centre backs. Rino and Ejaria in the middle using their energy. Then Swift is the best goal scorer so push him up behind Puscas.

Saying that, don’t think you need to play all four. Lots of advantages to having four options for three spots.

Re: Reading FC team of the decade

Roberts would be competing with NHunt for the fourth spot in my squad. Long and Kermorgant have obviously been better and Le Fondre’s threat from the bench was immense. All of them disadvantaged because Sigurdsson means we can only use one striker. Unless we play some sort of 3-4-1-2... but presumab...

Re: Reading FC team of the decade

Julian Kelly only made one appearance for us this decade, in a league cup match against Northampton. We have been quite well stocked for right backs. Despite his redemption I think Cummings is the obvious choice, crap when we first signed him and then woefully out of depth after we got promoted. Com...

Re: Gunter - did Stam make him shit?

I thought Stam’s season was the best Gunter played for us tbh. But then I’ve never really understood the hatred he inspires.

Re: Reading FC team of the decade

To be clear, talking about Ryan Edwards rather than Dave. I initially had Jake Taylor down for that spot but remembered him doing better than Edwards when they were both in the side. Other option was Cywka but he barely played at all. Baird is a great shout. Also Ezatolahi, Alex Fernandez. Think I’d...

Re: BFTG - Brentford

Looking at their forum they really don't like us, seems a bit random. Is it because we got promoted at their place? Promoted at their expense is part of it. Bigger part is that they perceive that we stripped their squad under Pardew and Coppell. They’re particularly bitter about Sidwell. I think th...

Re: If Reading didn’t exist

Surely the answer is, if your home town doesn't have a club you will either support the club your Dad (or Grandad) did or whoever was the biggest club at the time - as that is what kids do. So I'd probably be a rugby fan with no interest in football whatsoever beyond a passing interest in the World...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

I'm still bitter about Tanner, Dickie, Hyam, Novakovich and Stacey. We do alright, but we could do a lot better given the potentials we've had. We bring in an awful lot of mediocre squad fillers when we could give Academy lads 5-10 appearances instead. Apart from Stacey none of those guys have amou...

Re: Richards Obita or Blackett ?

That's the guy. Who am I forgetting? Marcus Williams and Joe Mills, going back a bit further Dan Harding and Dean Gordon. Wouldn't necessarily categorise J Mills with Travner, Harding or Williams Those three were truly shocking footballers. Mills at least showed some sort of promise, some sort of v...

Re: Richards Obita or Blackett ?

Remember when we had to sign some random LB on a free because we had nobody? Anyone remember his name? I think it was the same season we played Kelly at LB. Unfortunately there’s more than one person you could be referring to but I think you mean Jure Travener? That's the guy. Who am I forgetting? ...

Nah, he played right back.

Oh. Then I go Obita, Richards, Blackett.

I can play either full back position or DM actually.

Badly in all.

Ah, the classic trio of positions for the incapable park footballer.

Could you do a job as a “defensive winger” when protecting a narrow lead?
