Re: MATCHWATCH : Stevenage (h)

Wing is 100% playing a different role. Check out heat maps for last night compared to say Mansfield. He is very much playing a RCM, Savage a LCM and no longer playing between the CBs Right, I’ve looked at the heat maps for Wing for every game going back to Mansfield and I honestly think you are loo...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stevenage (h)

Where can I find the heat maps? Because all I saw was Wing stuck in the trenches yet again with midfield just a big pinball machine pinging the ball out in random directions. What tactical changes did you see? I really couldn’t see any. Whoscored.com I’m clearly a simpleton. Can’t find any heat map...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stevenage (h)

A rare live game for me. Great result, but the quality of football from both sides was dire. Wasn’t exactly overwhelmed by the differences between Noel’s Reading and Leam’s Reading; looked to me like Leam just picked up where Noel left off. Feels a bit unfair to reel off a bunch of criticisms after ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stevenage (h)

I have a feeling we might win tonight! Leam and his team have had a week now to work with the guys and get into their heads, yes a week isn't long but enough to get a few basic ideas over to the players. All these injuries may well put us into our backs to the wall mentality which some how we've th...

Re: Poll: Recruitment

Very interesting. Do feel that RC wanted to change manager when he took over but, because NH did so well last season, didn't feel he could. He then probably didn't give him as much backroom support as he could have (or NH didn't ask for it?) resulting in NH not doing as well this season and resulti...

Re: Poll: Recruitment

Agreed - I don’t think any of them are poor players as such - though Stevens and DK did a good job to change my mind on that against Carlisle Though I’m critical of the numbers and the profile of the players brought in, it’s understandable we made mistakes First signings for Hunt and JJ, ever prett...

Re: Poll: Recruitment

Positionally speaking, we appeared to do a good job at patching up where we needed players. I'd argue the majority of those players should be playing better than they have managed, and maybe this is reasonable evidence for Hunt coming up a bit short as manager. It's going to be interesting to see i...

Re: High press, front-footed, control the game

Not massively keen on managers presuming a system before they’ve analysed the players and their capabilities. I’d be looking at our best players and building a system around them, but hopefully this is what Leam will be doing and the buzzword bingo was just for the press.

Re: The inevitable poll for the next Reading manager

I mean, it isn’t particularly cultist to believe the owners, privy to 99% more information than the average fan while wanting pretty much the same thing in terms of success, might sign a decent candidate. If that’s Leam Richardson, fine. I get that what the owners want/can spend doesn’t always alig...

Re: Hunts gone

It’s so difficult to work out from an armchair what was Hunt’s fault and what was someone else’s. You have to feel for him losing so many key players, not getting the replacements he wanted, and the replacements he did get not really working out the gate. And now losing his job when his only real st...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Cardiff City (a)

Bar missing the goals (good save, not ideal for a left footer, and great block), I thought Lane was, similar to most of the team, quite a lot better against Cardiff than in recent games. If I was to compile a list of players who aren't good enough to start based on Cardiff, it would be Doyle, Steve...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Cardiff City (a)

Get Lane out of the team, for everyone's good including his. Don’t just get him out the team, terminate his contract for match fixing. THREE sitters missed - is this guy really that shit, or is he missing them deliberately? Absolute toilet player. Bar missing the goals (good save, not ideal for a l...

Nobody can sensibly deny that yesterday was a solid improvement. But you do have to wonder why we keep letting ourselves down so early in the second half.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Cardiff City (a)

Nice simple build up to the goal too. Didn’t quite catch who linked up well with Ritchie, and Ritchie’s layoff to Wing was totally in tune with what Wing wanted.

Nice to see players reading each other well for a change.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Cardiff City (a)

Frasers out for a couple of months Agree with some of the above but not others. The FBs have been consistently Ahmed and Jacob recently and they’ve both been a bit poor Agree with 4231 There are lots of not very good things about Marriott - in fact the only good thing is his finishing from what I c...
