Re: Is Adkins the right choice?

I think Nigel Adkins is a good appointment - because he is a similar sort of manager to McDermott.

Nigel mentioned "moving on" four times in his brief interview at the press conference.

"We move on". Welcome Brian Mk II.

Re: Next Reading Manager

Adkins price has gone from 4/6 to 1/8 within the last hour, bearing in mind, this is now the 3rd time he's gone odds on. The Reading Post have reported he is "increasingly unlikely" to take the job. A Press Association sports journalist has Tweeted he would be "shocked" if Adkin...

Re: Next Reading Manager

SPARTA Bookies suspending bets tonight on Adkins being the man.

We've heard "bookies suspending bets" a few times before. As it is an international break, I doubt very much Reading will have been doing anything over the weekend, so nothing will have changed since Friday.

More media obsession with the odds - because no one knows anything else:

Reading Post looks like it has become a Ladbrokes press release.

Re: Betting odds - irrelevant?

Which makes me wonder why we are getting so excited about slight fluctuations in odds as though it's seem sort of a sign? It ain't. Granted, it's the only thig we really have to go on as no one is really in the know, and granted they stopped taking bets re: Brian's sacking but that was only just be...

Re: Next Reading Manager

Why are some people saying we're going to announce Adkins today? Have I missed something? :| The odds on him being the next Royals boss have shortened dramatically to 8/11. (Although short odds also convinced everyone that Di Canio was about to be appointed). The Reading Post are running the Adkins...

Re: New Improved Management Contenders Poll

Eamonn Dolan because he is a Reading man who has been at the club for years. Promoting from within worked well with Pardew and McDermott. Although I bet Zingarevich wants a big name, so it won't be him.

Re: Who has applied for the Managers job..

I applied for the Reading manager's job when Alan Pardew left on the back of my Championship Manager experience. I got sent a letter of rejection, signed by Nigel Howe, which says the club are looking for a "Manager with experience of a higher level of football and a proven track record within ...

Does that mean I'm a plastic as I can't get to every game because of being at university?

Reading still had a few plastic fans last season, not this year.

Re: Open letter to Sir John

andrew1957 has said what many Reading fans are thinking - even if you get vilified for saying so on this board. If Sir JM wants to stand outside the dugouts waving to fans before a game any time soon he will get a reception he is not used to at his stadium. Taking a "brick by brick approach&quo...

Burton Albion

Does anyone on here how many the club are expecting tomorrow night? It's August and a lot of STHs will stay away, but we still tend to get a reasonable showing in the first round of the Carling Cup at home. It's unreserved seating tomorrow. Just bought mine online and the club are only selling ticke...

Re: Stephen Hunt to Hull

Yes, seen that too. It's breaking news on Sky Sports News. Let's hope that it's a decent fee and that the money will be made available to spend by the frugal multi-millionaire. It would suggest a swap for Nugent is not going to happen, still, plenty of other targets out there.

Re: Chairman Opinion Poll

Until Reading were promoted to the Premiership John Madejski did a brilliant job. But now it is clear that investment is needed in the playing squad. Having recouped millions (Doyle £6.25m, Sonko £2.5m, Kitson £5m and Hunt £??m) in transfer fees we have seen just a fraction of this re-invested in t...

Re: Back from the game...

It was frustrating - we didn't deserve to lose but now find ourselves closer points wise to seventh than second. Burnley have been one of the best sides in this league so far this season but we are better than them. We need to be getting three points from games like these, a good performance is not ...

The real reason for this policy is not 'elf and safety. Posters on here have said "you could fall over a bottle with a lid on it". I've never heard anything so ridiculous - have you ever actually seen this happen? I could trip over a bag - are these going to be banned as well? No one is pr...

Yeah the guy I saw was a kid - maybe the same one. Wonder how he got hold of an away top then? Jerry - by using the word "Megastore" one would envisage something along the lines of the Man Utd or Arsenal club stores. There was nothing Mega about it previously and I'm doubting it's near Me...
