Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Sheffs Wedders perhaps more likely to go to the wall, as the preferred bidders exit their takeover https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c204ed45e4jo The Bord Group were also bankrolling the operating costs shortfall, so that comes to an end too, leaving Wednesday without a confirmed bidder ...

1-1 draw was about the max we deserved, did well to hang on for so long really

El Gato to blame for their goal but he'd also kept us in it, so......

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (h)

The 2-1 win v Bolton at EP a month before the PO final remains one of my top 5 Elm Park matches.

When Nogan notched the late winner I thought the top of my head was going to explode, a bit like when The Spice Girls did Who Do You Think You Are at The Brits Awards a couple of years later

Re: What records do Reading FC hold

Arthur Wilkie is the only player in the Football League (inc PL) to start a match as a goalkeeper and score twice in that game, which he did for Reading (v Halifax in August 1962)

Re: Ex Royals

Ken Price passed away at the weekend, just aged 71. Was signed during our relegation season 1982-83 when Kerry Dixon got injured. 100% effort player, kind of like Kevin Bremner a few years later but probably not at his level. I can remember him playing in the lower levels of the Reading Sunday Leag...

Re: Top winger individual performances

Glen Little was a tremendous footballer, possibly my favourite ever Reading player. Not a pace man like Gilkes and Kebe but full of incredible skill. Kebe had a one purple patch where he looked unstoppable. Absolute greyhound when he got going. I can remembering you praising Little back in the day ...

Similarly, if you're going for Uwe Hartenberger, you get bonuses Harts and Hartes (see also Kerry Dixon and Dominic Samuel)

NB Tom Dollery - one single game for us in the 1930s. Better known as a cricket County Championship winning captain of Warwickshire CCC. Have that one on me.

Re: Quiz: Every Reading player ever

Using the Heritage Numbers list, I've put together a quiz where you have to name every player who's played for Reading: link . I can't imagine anyone will get all 1,507 players (especially as the maximum time I could provide was an hour). Would be interesting to see how well people do with this tho...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stevenage (h)

Strange game. Couldn't believe how poor S'age were in first half. Plusses Enjoyed Wing playing further forward. Kyerewaa's best game of the season (out of those I've been to anyway) Pereira excellent when needed The two centre backs look excellent Williams (R) looked handy when he came on Abrefa fin...

Is Williams a left back? If so, that'd be a good signing.

Would be good to see Rino back too.

Pat Earles was the scorer in the Bishop Stortford cup defeat in the mud! 2931 in attendance. Reading team: Fearon, Williams, White, Beavon, Hicks, Wood, Bason, Stant, Dixon, Doherty, Donnellan. NGL, don't remember this, and it sounds dreadful. 2000-01 November (H) vs Grays Athletic 4-0 efficiently done 1999-2000 November (H) ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Northampton Town (h)

Actually thought we played pretty well. Gave Northampton very little and we were the better side by a margin Elliott did ok, CBs good, front 3 all contributed and nice to have some physicality up there. Thought Kelvin was good and caused a lot of problems All subs did well bar the hapless Kyeweera ...
