Re: MATCHWATCH : Carlisle United (h)

Wasn't this just before the merger attempt by Maxwell later that season? Donnellon was a winger signed from Watford, Doherty was playing in Local football in Reading when we signed him. Holy Cynical, now you've got my brain working!!! It has to have been as I'm not sure it was much earlier and we s...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Carlisle United (h)

I’m not surprised no-one remembers him, 1882 was a helluva long time ago. Oops. Either he was a very early player or maybe it was 1982-83 1982-83 https://i.pinimg.com/originals/e4/ee/0e/e4ee0ec633d85be72e0820518b83591c.jpg Brian Bason was a midfielder previously with Palace and Chelsea. Re: MATCHWATCH : Carlisle United (h)

Pat Earles was the scorer in the Bishop Stortford cup defeat in the mud! 2931 in attendance. Reading team: Fearon, Williams, White, Beavon, Hicks, Wood, Bason, Stant, Dixon, Doherty, Donnellan. I remember the game and the squad well but for some reason i cannot remember the guy called Bason? Anyone...

Re: CONFIRMED: Leam Richardson

Yep - as said, when is a manager bringing in his assistants ever not ‘jobs for the boys’ - they always bring in people they know and get on with Beattie particularly has a wealth of coaching experience and Id assume he is pretty knowledgeable on the striking front which we desperately need. Hopeful...

Re: The inevitable poll for the next Reading manager

I mean, it isn’t particularly cultist to believe the owners, privy to 99% more information than the average fan while wanting pretty much the same thing in terms of success, might sign a decent candidate. If that’s Leam Richardson, fine. I get that what the owners want/can spend doesn’t always alig...

Re: CONFIRMED: Leam Richardson

Another hoping for the new messiah , and yet another Reading FC manager Always amazes me with football that most appointments are made of managers that have previously been sacked and the obvious reason they've been sacked is because they were shit at their previous job. All we can do is get behind...

Re: The inevitable poll for the next Reading manager

At the end of the day, whoever is chosen, he will either be a failure and get the sack of do well and move to a better job at the first opportunity.
Anyway, Brendan is available, he's quit Celtic!

Re: The inevitable poll for the next Reading manager

Basically Leam Richardson got Portsmouth promoted from League 2, he left Pompey for Wigan after promotion to join up with Paul Cook and they promptly won promotion from League 1 so you can see the logical attraction and thinking behind this appointment. Therefore the guy has proven something. So mu...

Re: Hunts gone

I know I am in a minority as most of you seem to have wanted Noel gone at any cost, but I’m so annoyed that I actually hope we get relegated this season to teach the impatient owner a lesson. I have attended all the games I can so far this season, but I cannot see me wasting any more money supporti...

Re: Home ticket changes

One thing I can't work out is why this great new system doesn't extend to loading FA Cup games to a season ticket card. A friend of mine wanted to buy a ticket for the Carlisle cup tie, but was told his only options are to download an app (which he doesn't want to do) or print at home (which he can...

Re: The inevitable poll for the next Reading manager

If we end up appointing Matt Bloomfield I’d question the point of sacking Noel. This. When he was sacked as Luton manager, their fans were basically saying the same things as a lot of our fans were saying about Hunt - too inexperienced; tactically naive; poor squad selections; poor performances; et...

Re: Hunts gone

Nice guy, was always ambivalent about it but probably right. Who’s up next for the hot seat My money is on Matt. Bloomfield ex Wycombe player and manager, he took them to the Championship if I remember correctly. I think he is out of work having left/sacked by Luton Town this month. Couhig and Jaco...

Re: Hunts gone

A little bit surprised. It leaves a slightly unpleasant taste. Couhig's statement is pretty dignified. The club is always bigger than any one manager, player, or indeed, owner. I guess two weeks until the next significant fixture means this is a good time to do it. BIB - this. Definitely surprised ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Doncaster Rovers (h)

Freezing cold wind added to the flat atmosphere in the ground which is becoming the norm with the low crowds we’re attracting now at home Can’t fault the effort of most of the players with Paddy Lane working his socks off a great example, but, I’m afraid that’s about as good a team as we are. We ha...

AthleticoSpizz “Drawn to Success”

Old enough to have sported the HNA tee-shirt ‘back in the day’…we scraped promotion based on draws iirc.

2002 was it?

We had a few draws in the run in that season. Won our fair share of games up to that point allowing us that luxury.

Re: Hunt out.

How can you say Burns is ahead of where Bindon was 2 years ago? You say he looks a liability in the team, Bindon was never that and looked class from day one. He was out of position at RB and looked unconvincing. Even at CB, he got dominated by Rhodes at Blackpool and had a costly poor game at home...

He was out of position at RB and looked unconvincing. Even at CB, he got dominated by Rhodes at Blackpool and had a costly poor game at home to Barnsley. He learned quickly and it became clear pretty quickly he was destined for a higher level. But there were bumps in the road. Maybe so, he started ...

Re: Hunt out.

I just think of course our players aren't as good as Bindon, Mbengue, Knibbs, Smith and Azeez, who are all playing at a higher level for a reason. But do they match them for potential compared to 2 years ago? Obvious example - Lane is a similar age to Knibbs when we signed him, and already has a L1...
