Re: We're asking for your help

I feel that the tax payer has been taken for a ride, and that any money accrued by the sale of Upton Park should go straight to the Government to off set some of the cost of WHU getting the Olympic stadium. Probably should be going to the Greater London Assembly, given that there is no central gove...

Re: Back from the game: Colchester

Big Foot Williams not a winger at all, if Clarke persists with playing him out of position then I have a hunch Williams will throw a wobbly by Xmas and be gone in January

Looked the best player on the park to my ill-informed eyes, despite being played wildly out of position.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2014/15

Wilshere only player that really looked like threatening them tbf Disagree, thought Daniel Crowley looked good as well. Their keeper was pretty solid too. Arsenal played some good football at times but it was mainly very err...Arsenal i.e. nice passing but hesitant to shoot. Liam Kelly playex well ...

He played very well. Wilshere was unsurprisingly the best player on the park but Kuhl held his own.

Re: Racism in football (John Terry spin-off)

I guess you didn't get the irony in the 'It's what football fans do" Or see saying these racist are abhorrent on page 42? And neither did EP - which is why he's so rattLOLed about it. This is a fun one because it's clear he doesn't know what a) irony is b) racism is c) being ...

Re: Racism in football (John Terry spin-off)

Good to see you're finally realising how silly the Hillsborough argument is now. Then why did you bring it up :?: This was the case with Hillsborough wasn't it? The Police got the blame for those too impatient to get into the game, so the fans started pushing and shoving outside the stadium. Surely...

Re: How long is this forum staying open for?

I'm pessimistic about Russia 2018 or Qatar/wherever 2022 being even half as good as this. But we can't keep looking back, Green. Give it a week, transfer all the threads to General Football, apart from any posts by Ian Royal which should be preserved in the now moribund World Cup forum as a monumen...

Re: The best World Cup?

I hit reply to say that I thought USA 94 was shit, but the wiki page has put my memory straight on that one. That brilliant Romania team - especially the stunning 3-2 win over Argentina. Spain 2-2 South Korea - Spain having been 2-0 up with 5 minutes to go. Al-Owairian imitates Maradona. Late Baggi...

No Fixed Abode If those German players were shelf stackers in Aldi, those birds wouldn't look twice at most of the German players.

So, success is an attractive quality? Interesting new development.

Otherwise, they'd be all over you m8.

Re: WC 2014 Final: Argentina vs Germany

The Germans were pretty comfortable all tournament, despite having a lot of injury and sickness worries to contend with. Delighted for them, they've thoroughly deserved that from their performances over the last few years. a) Congrats to Germany - best team won, no doubt about that b) No, they were...

Re: WC 2014 Semi Final 2: Argies v Netherlands

I think he might be referring to the late dive in the second round vs Australia, but... Yeah. That said, post 2004, Germany have been one of the more entertaining teams out there. They've come up against one of the all-time great teams and fallen short. But then again I do think likeability comes w...

Re: WC 2014 Semi Final 2: Argies v Netherlands

World Cup over Italy, where two of the least deserving teams made it to the Final, Italy by cheating IMO I'd have far preferred them winning at least one of the Spain tournaments and seen it as a triumph for entertainment over tedium. This German side has come up slightly short against arguably the...

Hmm...

3 Chelsea players in the 3rd place play off and 1 in the final
3 Arsenal players in the final

Re: WC 2014 Semi Final 2: Argies v Netherlands

the Germany of the last 10 years has been great and it's a crying shame they haven't won something already. Argentina can feck right off. Like what? Euros in 2012 over Spain? World Cup in 2010 over Spain? Euros in 2008 over Spain? World Cup in 2006 over Italy? or Euros in 2004 over Greece? Right, g...

Re: WC 2014 3rd Place Play-off: Brazil vs Netherlands

I actually agree with van Gaal on this....its a pointless match I mean, without looking, who can name the teams that have finished 3rd in the past 5 world cups?! That aside i think Brazil NEED to win this, to soften the blow for the other night 1994 - Sweden? 1998 - Croatia 2002 - South Korea? 2006...

I think Van Gaal is a better tactician than Loew (not only demonstrated by the goalkeeper thing)

I don't necessarily buy the Van Gael great tactician love-in just because he changed keepers for the penalty shoot-out.

Re: FAO Tulip

Yeah, Germany have many strengths but also key weaknesses as demonstrated against Ghana and Algeria. The question, I suppose, is whether the moving of Lahm back to the back 4 and the extra couple of games for layoff-returnees Schweinsteiger and Khedira have sufficiently improved the team. The Franc...
