Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Was actually 6 in 20 years, including Klopp. And Rodgers was broadly a success. Board went odd with the Hodgson pick. And odder bringing back Dalglish after that. But they are the only managers in Liverpool's history to take charge of less than 100 games.

It’s only money, no points deductions thanks to them ‘holding their hands up’

EFL teams get to admit lots of shortcomings……and they get fines, embargoes……and the points deductions

It’s all bullsh1t, football’s dead 115

By way of comparison, Luton Town were deducted ten points a decade ago for ...

Serie B very top-heavy this season. Juve Stabia, in 7th, are closer to the bottom of the table than the top.

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

I like reading about clubs with interesting history. Red Star Club Francais are currently in fourth place in Ligue 2 and fighting for promotion through an end of season play-off place. Red Star was founded by Jules Rimet (of the naming of the original World Cup trophy) in 1897 and is one of the ...

What's the story here? Last I looked (maybe a couple of years ago) things were turning around at Bracknell, new investment, new ground, good results. Has it gone tits up?

This is interesting*. Feel like I should have known this was a thing, but I don't think I did.

Viewers noticed that Jeremy Doku 'glitched' in the feed of City's match in Madrid last night, whilst by the corner flag. Turns out the reason is related to the digital overlay of advertising boards ...

Fwiw, Celta Vigo are the only side ever to have been relegated in a season in which they have played Champions League football. They finished fourth in La Liga the season before, to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history. They were to finish 19th in La Liga - whilst ...

We've lost just 4 of 21 league games since LR took over. Having list 4 of our opening 7 under Noel Hunt. Up to 7th - and this having conceded three injury time equalisers in the last month (yes, I know it went the other way this weekend).

Yes, Noel Hunt can take some credit for righting the ship ...

I think it's pretty easily solved actually by referees 'looking at it closely' for a few weeks. Blow up for what is obvious obstruction of the keeper, over and over again, and teams will soon get the message.

Take a long bow, Bodø/Glimt. What an incredible result. To beat Inter in the first leg was incredible. To then win in Italy too is something else entirely.

Wonder what 'route' Liverpool and Spurs would prefer - R16 opponents will be either Atletico, with a QF against Newcastle, Chelsea or Barcelona ...

Liverpool go to Wolves in the Premier League on Weds 3rd March, and then go to Wolves in the FA Cup on Sat 6th March. Wonder how often this has happened? Probably more often than I think.

Walsall continuing to do a Walsall last night in League 2 I see

also I just learned that Harrogate, who are 2nd from bottom but have 2 wins and 2 draws in their last 4 games, have had the same manager for 17 seasons, and he is the son of the owner.

Quite the family achievement - I assume ...

Might just be the angle, but Raheem looks like, well... like, he hasn't been playing too much football.

Sir Harold of Kane got two more goals at the weekend. Now has 43 goals in 36 games for Bayern this season, one shy of his season best (44 for Bayern in 2023-24). And Bayern have at least 14 games ...

Stat-watch. Middlesbrough now top of the Championship table. Manchester United, way back in 1905/06, are the only second tier club ever to have amassed Coventry's 43 points after 18 games and not be promoted. Just 16 points from their subsequent 13 matches.

Also, Celtic's late winner blows the SPL ...

As Sutekh said, the chance to join a club like that doesn't come along often.

Football is weird sometimes. Eberechi Eze would likely be going to the World Cup if he'd stayed at Palace. Was in great form, a key player. Joins Arsenal, scores a derby hat-trick, and then...nothing. First league start in two months last night and he was hooked at half time.

Dyche leaves with the highest league win % of a Forest manager for a decade.

When Steve McLaren replaced Billy Davies in the summer of 2011, he was Forest's 30th manager in their history. 15 years later, the next appointment will be their 55th.
