Re: Players who virtually won us games/promotion/avoided relegation on their own

Lost 3-1 at Fulham and also lost 2-0 at home to them. I believe that on both occasions their final goal came in injury time of each game, if Reading had managed to keep both out out they would have stayed up at the expense of Fulham. Yep, 90 minutes in both of them. We would've stayed up by 1 GD. I...

Re: 2019/20 Season - How will it end?

Broadly, for England too, I really don't understand why the promotion only model hasn't taken off. Is it really that difficult to make room for (say) two additional Premier League game weeks? It isn't difficult but when you have top managers already complaining about fixture congestion, the FA are ...

Re: The Bundesliga Hobnob battle thread 19/20

Interesting* stat from an admittedly very small sample but home teams lost a form of advantage this weekend in that refs seemed to be more balanced in the decisions they gave. On average before the lockdown, home teams on average got 15 more fouls awarded and the away team saw more cards. Could be ...

Re: Players who virtually won us games/promotion/avoided relegation on their own

Hendo
Royal_jimmy Ibrahima Sonko single handedly got us relegated from the premier league in 2008 with all the stupid penalties he gave away :x

:|

I agree with RJ

Wasn’t anything to do with the fact we got 0 points out of 12 from the two teams directly directly above us (Bolton and Fulham)

Re: The Bundesliga Hobnob battle thread 19/20

It was nice to have some football back but without a dog in the fight, no matter some flow chart says, I got less interested as the games went on and that had nothing to do with a lack of atmosphere. At least it's proved to our powers that be that this is perfectly doable. Agreed with all of that O...

Re: The Bundesliga Hobnob battle thread 19/20

Yep, happy with that. At least I could watch some sport where I didn't know the result. Well, except that Dortmund had their's won by the hour mark Strangely enough, not sure whether you picked up on it, but Dortmund were 4-0 up against Schalke a couple of seasons ago at home with 30 left and they ...

Re: The Bundesliga Hobnob battle thread 19/20

Football is crap like this. Would rather it didn't come back until everything went back to normal. It's been fine I thought. Some decent games this afternoon, camera angles a little lower and think Sky had turned up the commentary in the mix. Barely noticed the lack of crowd. +1 I enjoyed it They a...

Would perhaps throw Joe Mills into the mix, although IIRC he was slightly unlucky in his brief spell here

Jake Taylor was a bit meh too, would put him with the likes of Ryan Edwards

Old Man Andrews I'll nominate Reading 0 Blackburn Rovers 1 from 17th February 2015. Utter shite.

Presuming you mean Wigan here, agreed, was a truly dreadful game, think it was the one mentioned earlier where Chalobah played CB

Simon Sheppard Liam Rosenior Paul Bodin Matt Mills Bongani Khumalo Paul Brooker Mark Reilly David Meyler Royston Drenthe Paul Brayson Joseph Mendes Tf is Rosenior doing in there? And while Mills is a villain he was nowhere near the second worst centre back we’ve had in the last ten years. If we’re ...

Two which haven’t been mentioned: Reading 5-1 Ipswich under Steve Clarke Completely dominant performance thanks largely to the midfield trio of Norwood, Tshibola and Stephen Quinn. Three players who were hard working and technically gifted so just swamped the opposition both in and out of possessio...

Re: Finish the season, in 56 days?

Zip Start in June and be finished end July. It’s doable but what about social distancing? The players would clearly be at risk from infection.

Puscas wouldn’t be, he spends the entire game in isolation anyway

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

bit of a break from Snowball's stats-athon Talk that the league is aiming to restart in June and play all the games in a 56 day period (inc play offs). Players would return to training in mid may Not quite sure how that then feeds into the next season though - maybe a couple of weeks off and then a...

Re: Finance

It's all its, buts and maybes, but ultimately investing in a team that only narrowly avoided relegation for 2 seasons is a risk worth taking. The revenue lost from relegation would cripple this club. Personally I think they invested all that money on the basis we were going to get top 6 this season...
