Re: Back to the Mad Stad

Name of retainer payee goes into the magic hat, VP spends a morning drawing 2000 names, those names not drawn remain in magic hat for next the home game (presuming the govt. don’t ban us all again) Gets interesting though if less than 2000 paid a retainer. Would need to be more sophisticated...

Re: Injury watch 2020/21

Even if they were really close and could just about play I’d definitely err on the side of caution with this one. It’s a game where even if we had all playing we are up against and longer injuries could completely derail our season. Give them the extra time to be fully fit. On the flip side, losing...

Re: Pauno at STAR Fans Forum 11 November

Thought Pauno came across as a nice guy, but then Jose was a lovely guy at his FF too ! There was a lot of interesting stuff, without it being ‘controversial’. He seems to have nice mix of ambition and realism. The BS quota seemed lower than we’ve had from some custodians. . From comments he made I ...

Derby on the verge of being bought by a Cousin of Man City's owner, a guy called Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan. https://theathletic.com/news/derby-newcastle-takeover-sheikh-khaled/2pJQROiLw7Cn The group includes Christopher Samuelson. Enough said! Presumably they will have to pay about 4 times...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

Is solution to this Xg nonsense for us to just have a load of speculative shots in the last few minutes of games which we have already won ? Would that tweak the figures sothe kids with their spreadsheets wouldn’t think we weren’t actually doing that well, when in fact it’s obvious we are....

Also a sizeable feature in the I newspaper today.
Roger Titford quoted quite extensively, which is rarely a bad thing.

Re: Season 20/21

It's all looking pretty bleak out there with regards to this Covid thing - how long before the brakes are slammed on once again for competitive sport - it's certainly looking unlikely any sort of crowd participation will be allowed until the spring at the earliest. Bearing in mind the importance of...

Re: What has changed so much from last season?

Hendo Upson still ranks up there, for me, as one of the best defenders we've ever had.

He was oxf*rd class.

No he wasn’t

Oxford hardly played for us, to compare Upson to him is crazy....

If the description given on the Tilehurst End of Xg is accurate it isn’t a stat. It’s a subjective opinion wrapped up in smoke and mirrors to make it look meaningful.

Re: Rival Watch

Coventry went to 10 men after 14 minutes. That's one player that will be missing next friday. Violent conduct? If not, isn't it one game ban and presumably, like us, they have a midweek game? Sent off for denial of goal scoring opportunity, it'll only be a 1 game ban. And in any case I believe you ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Have we fielded an under 18 since we’ve had the sponsor? Yes, Michael Olise last season and Dejan Tetek, Nahum Melvin-Lambert, and Lynford Sackey this season Valid question then, how do the club get round that? I would imagine because for the purposes of first team games the age of the player is ir...

Re: Rumour - free agents

Reckon Holmes has showed enough to say he could cover LB, and McIntyre probably could too. Yeah possible, Paunovic seems to have half an eye on turning McIntyre into a defensive midfielder, which could be an interesting move. DoubtHolmes would be sensible at left back but McIntyre has played there....
