Re: Coronavirus outbreak

3 Points Jnr got "semi-quarantined" yesterday coming back into Heathrow from Krakow on a BA flight. He disembarked the plane and was on the jet bridge when Heathrow shut the doors into the terminal building, but they weren't allowed back onto the plane. An hour or so later of utter shenani...

Re: BFTG Brum

Off The Pitch post Later start than usual, as I was having lunch with my Dad (buffalo & rye, smokehouse) but The Wellington was well-chosen starting point. Black Country Ales' major Brum centre pub, with at least 17 lines on the go (there's more upstairs, but iirc they're the local ciders). Pre...

Re: BFTG Brum

Definitely a game of two halves. Overall a poor game of football, but we won. We were workmanlike in the second half. Good to get the equaliser early and the second knocked the stuffing out of the Blues and their fans. Birmingham were poor throughout. How have they got so many points? When they play...

Re: Bowen Out.

I do think Puscas is / will be a good goal scorer in this league. For me, we need to build a team around him and a style of play that best suits him. In the last few seasons I can only think of one season with Kermogant where we played in a way that suited our main striker (or vice versa). I think y...

Re: Bowen Out.

The Championship has also changed over the last few years, probably partly driven by the money side of life, partly due to the constant pressure and Merry go round of managers at most clubs. It’s rare to see a side now come to the Madejski and play decent football with their first thought being to w...

Re: BFTG Barnsley

Bertrand Armstrong. Utterly bizarre comment really, we've nearly always been well-stocked at left back except for about two matches where we had to play Marcus Williams. Armstrong, Bertrand, and Obita have all been in the top three of a POTS vote and Ian Harte was in the Championship team of the se...

Re: January Transfer Window

Only Mannone and Aluko were financial disasters looking back We tossed away a few million on Edwards and Clement but Barrow was vfm, Bacuna sold at a profit and Bod was reasonable It was as much those ridiculous contracts - 4 years for Kelly and Aluko on sky high wages, 3 for Popa, Mannone apparent...

Re: January Transfer Window

Would rather have Bod here now than Baldock. Also never felt Pelle Clement got a decent run and think Bowen might like his style too.

Re: 20/21 squad and summer transfer business

Wonder if Bowen likes Tennai Watson and has him in mind again as a 2nd or 3rd choice RB? I was also thinking about Smith and wonder whether Holmes will come back more accustomed to adult football? Personally, probably not for both.

Re: BFTG Wednesday (A)

A better question is why we didn’t look or do better against a limited Hull team, rather than WBA. Too many teams come to the Madejski and sit 10 men behind the ball and defend deep. And that was the case with Hull. We aren’t good enough to break teams down that do this, and haven’t been for a numb...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

I think sending 2 players of the same position to the same club at the same time is often rare too? If they can both start they could develop well. Saw Odimayo play centre midfield for U23s against WBA. Looked pretty tidy there so may be a bit mor ever satire than just playing at centre back. I did...

Re: BFTG Hull.

Personally I’d have brought on Rino (as McCleary wasn’t on the bench) and got him to play a more right sided midfield role with Swift coming back into the centre and Ejaria playing off Meite. With the Obita sub I can see the sense of a like for like switch, but agin I’d have been tempted to bring Ri...

Re: BFTG Hull.

Lot of criticism here for Swift, but throughout the second half he played right midfield. Just not his position and poor tactical switch from Bowen. We looked better when we went to 4 at the back, for a bit, but always felt threatened down our right wher Swift isn’t natural and Araruna is clearly no...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Particularly for Howe. A decent spell there should set him up to cement a place in the squad next season. Yes, will definitely be keeping an eye on that one and hope he does a bit better than some other recent loans to Div1 I rate the lad, reckon he has a future here. Every time I’ve watched him he...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Surprised about Nolan. Saw him the other night against WBA and was quite impressed with him. And it isn’t even a loan deal.
