Re: Rumour - AS Monaco to invest in Reading?

This could go one of two ways, either Charlton or Watford, as they both have a shareholder who has interests in other clubs in Europe. Charlton fans are not happy with their owner and want him out. Watford, on the other hand, has seen an improvement in their status, BUT, Watford are the main club in...

Re: COMING SOON : Crystal Palace (h) FA Cup Round 6

Friday 11 March, 7.55pm, Madejski Stadium. Live on BBC 1 and Radio 5 (plus BBC Berks - and no doubt a ton of streams around the internet) Quarter Final Night looms. A world that has seen 80 games played between Reading and Crystal Palace previously since the fist meeting in 1920. Largely always pla...

Re: Rumour - AS Monaco to invest in Reading?

This deal, if it happens, feels me with dread. One Russian owner has been one too many. We would be "asked" to take their not so good youngsters on loan while they take our best prospects. Loan players do not have the same commitment to the club as permanent signings do. Is he another one ...

Re: Charlton (A) predictions.

Silver Fox Is there anything more tedious on this board than the "we're playing someone rubbish who haven't won forever, nailed on defeat, LOL!!1!!1!" prediction

It may be tedious, but it happens far too often, though.

Re: Brian's third FA Cup QF - who do you want?

You're being kind. Shocking from tidius there. Either he's totally clueless about football or he's deluded enough to think Brighton care more about us than they do their biggest and most hated rival. Though I suspect both statements are true. And you're a oxf*rd, what's your point? No I didn'...

Re: One Club Men Reading

Sutekh Gordon Neate

Best nomination so far. Joined the club at 15 years old in April,1956, became groundsman when injury, I believe, ended his career stayed in that job until he retired in July 2009. just over 53 years service to the club will take some beating.

Re: One Club Men Reading

From Despair To Where? Even with Maurice Evans, I think he was officially player/coach at Shrewsbury, although he never actually played for them

Wasn't he also the manager of that club up the A34 from Newbury?

Re: No FA Cup replays and midweek rounds?

The only thing the FA should be considering is a little more flexibility with clubs competing in Europe by allowing them to bring forward or put back the game by at least 24 hours. But the FA can't can they? If the TV bods want a match, replay or not, on the their station, then the FA has to agree ...

Re: No FA Cup replays and midweek rounds?

No worries, we're not lower league for gawd's sake, we're high rollers now, I say pull the ladder up, we're all right Jack! We may be "alright Jack", but have you given a thought for the non-league clubs. Their players are more often than not part timers, who have other jobs. Why should t...

No FA Cup replays and midweek rounds?

It seems as though the FA is considering fundamental changes to the FA Cup, at the request of some Premier league teams,of course. Do you think playing FA Cup games in midweek and no replays will be a good idea? If not, how can the lower league supporters show the FA our feelings?

Re: COMING SOON : West Bromwich Albion (h) FA Cup Round 5

The BBC stats for Everton v West Brom. Everton / WBA Possession 76% / 24% Shots 33 / 5 (33 is not a typo) On target 6 / 1 Corners 14 / 1 Result 0 / 1 If the West Brom. goal has such a charmed life, how the hell are we going to score? I just hope that the big bus they must have parked in front of goa...

Re: Are you a fan or a customer?

Assuming that fan is an abbreviation of fanatic and the definition of that is "someone who has an obsessive interest in a particular activity", we can be both. You could be a fan of a pop-star but not go to see them perform live on stage, but if you went you would be a customer. It seems t...

No. But i was when he loaned a Football Club loads of money, bought a huge lump of land for a quid, built a stadium on it, all on loans that he took back albeit with minimal interest. And im still there buying my season tickets like i have for the past 17 years whilst witnessing some of the dross w...

Re: How impressed are you with BMcD's return to the club?

Clarke sacked = 1 point off the play-offs McDermott in charge = 13 points off the play-offs This is what happens when you employee a scout to do a managers job. He really does need to go as he is not very good you know. He is living on a legacy of a few wins before he was sacked for being a failure...

Re: January Deadline Day thread.

Latest reports are Pardew has said Speroni is staying at Palace and another keeper may be going out on loan "to get him up to speed". Can't see Mccarthy coming here, after all if it is him, it appears he wasn't up to speed when he left here!

I hope there is less truth in this than "Clarke is now the Fulham manager" quoted as fact by numerous papers and radio stations! Paper and radio talk is often wrong, especially when they make it up.

Re: Gunts on his way?

I see that Brian wants Chris Gunter to sign a new contract also the player himself wants to stay at Reading. If that happens there will be many unhappy fans, of which I will not be one. Why do so many fans dislike him, when manager after manager plays him so much? If he is s bad as some on these pag...

Re: Charlie Watts - great journo

Neither Watts or Fordham are a patch on Roger Ware! I believe he was a Reading supporter and wrote for the Reading Chronicle or was it the Berkshire Chronicle still at the time? Anyone else remember him? I remember the name. Late 70s / early 80s? Think it would have been more like the mid to late 6...
