A Polish football journalist has released a biography on Robert Lewandowski and in it he claims that with 2 games left of the 22/23 season Barcelona asked the player to stop scoring goals as any more would trigger a bonus payment to Bayern and they couldn't afford it

Re: World Cup 2026

Indeed. Can't think of another non-tournament international match watched as a neutral that I've enjoyed as much as last night. What a way to qualify. was more excited watching Scotland last night than I have been watching England for a long time I can absolutely assure you, watching Scotland isn't...

Re: Modern football things you don't like

Yes maybe there are more long throws right now, but there have also always been some long throws in the game, and so we dont need every long throw accompanied by a commentator telling us 'long throws are back' I was tempted to start an (Un-)Athletico FC thread. Were you put together the most unathl...

Re: World Cup 2026

Watched the Scotland game from about 75 mins onwards. Fantastic end to the game, very pleased for them. Seemed to be one of those nights where you just have a feeling (as a neutral at least) that something would break for them and they'd do it. Incredible scenes, and some top quality goals too Inde...

Re: World Cup 2026

8 more teams added in, that's 42, which seems like a lot 42 + 4 x Euro playoffs = 46 Do we know what the permutations are for the last two spaces? Those are for the Intercontinental play-off winners. Draw is tomorrow Iraq and DR Congo as the highest seeds move directly to the 2 "finals". ...

Re: World Cup 2026

any beefy tensions between these nations that could make games interesting?

The only one that jumps out to me is Bosnia & Kosovo, but I think they are unlikely to play each other.
