Re: The non snowball stat thread

There was a point in about 2010 when we were the most successful club in terms of wins this century.

Re: 2023-24 L1 Table Prediction Competition.

Thank you. So that's roughly sixth. Our 'hive mind' was fairly good this season then. And factor in two of the three worst performers were an alphabetical list and a randomly generated list with Reading moved top and Oxford bottom. Not sure I've got the scoring quite right, but mucher better to see...

Re: 2023-24 L1 Table Prediction Competition.

We were unpredictable for various reasons - not least points deductions coming into play. Charlton have to be the biggest underachievers this season; Stevenage the biggest overachievers. Looking at the average prediction (average in brackets): ⋅ Derby (2.5) - 7 ⋅ Portsmouth (4.7...

Re: Rival Watch

Mr Angry According to the CUFC fans forum page, he was on £13K a week!

Cambridge were absolutely desperate for strikers at one point and he was fairly well rated only a few years back.

I wouldn't be surprised if we had a few on similar or more.

Re: Goalkeepers

I've had a look at the basic goalkeeping stats. Despite everyone criticising Button in goal, we've conceded basically as much with him in goal as we have with Pereira in goal. Button - Pld 37 - GA 55 - 59.7 mins per GA Pereira - Pld 9 - GA 14 - 54.6 mins per GA Even without that stoppage time mista...

Re: 2023-24 L1 Table Prediction Competition.

We were probably the biggest wildcard in hindsight. Totally unpredictable. Then you always get a couple surprise packages like Stevenage and Orient plus underachievers like Charlton. But the top 2 wasn't very surprising, the playoffs involve all of last year's play off losers and the bottom 4 provi...

If Abbey came back, a back 3 of him, Mbengue and Bindon would be sexy as oxf*rd.

Winston Biscuit reportedly a vote taking place today by PL clubs as to whether to bring in spending caps on wages, transfers and agents costs

Only really in the interests of the perennially safe also rans.

Re: Home shorts colour

White shorts, but they need a splash of blue, as do the socks. And a decent amount of blue on the shirt, especially the back... or we end up looking like Leeds from behind. Yeurch!!! The little blue squares on the white shorts from the mid-late 90s kit basically. Google Mick Gooding Reading kit and ...

Re: Goalkeepers

My point is a case of who would people prefer plays. I'm in a mixed view as to who should be number one, basically coming down to what we should be prioritising in a goalkeeper, but certainly don't think Pereira is significantly better than Button (as I've heard/seen a lot recently). Do people actu...

You fcuking better not win. Not sure the fanbase can take waiting another 5 and a half weeks.

Meh. We're in no news means it hasn't fallen through territory these days, rather than no news is bad news.

Re: Goalkeepers

Well stocked in the keeper department. Button is 35 and I am reliably informed he is our highest earner. As you stats prove there is very little difference between him and Pereira. So from a purely economic point of view button can go. Imo. Good luck shifting him. At best a loan where we pay two th...

Re: 2023-24 L1 Table Prediction Competition.

Yeah, I pride myself on being pretty good at this, but I had a shocker this season. Really knew very little about L1. Hope to do much better next season. Royal Monkeys was scarily accurate. Couple of sides - us and Stevenage m particularly, caught a few of us out but otherwise quite pleased at my g...

Re: Looking forward to the 2024-25 season

Not every likely contender is confirmed yet. So early days. But I remember 4-4-2 had us down at about 20/1 for the title in 05/06. I remember the Reading FC magazine (remember that?) had a full list with us being mid-table ahead of that season. Just shows how underestimated that team was, making th...
