Re: January Window

I haven't seen anything concrete that he is leaving but I think it's safe to assume that's probably the way it's heading this month and it's only a matter of time before that happens as well. As long as we aren't paying for any of his wages after he leaves, I'm happy with that. It would be a shame t...

Re: Who realistically replaces Paunovic…?

Replacement I don't think we should have appointed him in the first place, or that his prior experience was what we should have been looking for. I don't see a change now being positive. I think the club needs a clean break, with a carefully made decision with careful planning on a replacement, not...

Re: Relegation

Then what about the likes of Charlton who were there for 4/5 years and are now back there, Sunderland have been there for 3/4 years, Ipswich 2 seasons likely to be 3, Bolton 3rd season outside the Championship, Portsmouth, Blackpool before they came up etc. I know we would get back up eventually, b...

Re: Relegation

Totally agree with Zip and CR. No one can say if we will be competitive in League One. We would have less season ticket holders. less revenue through the gate, and a massvie drop in revenue from Sky. Take into account that far less than 30% of income is through season tickets and gate receipts. Lik...

Re: January Window

I think it was probably all sorted before Saturday more or less. It probably doesn't matter whether it's a loan or a transfer but would obviously prefer the latter providing we aren't having to subsidise any of his wages to the buying club.

Re: Who realistically replaces Paunovic…?

I certainly think we would appeal to Ainsworth, even if we were relegated (providing they don't get promoted). It would be the next step up in his career as a manager, I'm just not completely convinced if he would be the correct fit for us. Aspects of him I would take, but as mentioned, he has achie...

Re: Pauno out

Anyone else concerned that Pauno isn't going any where soon ? His comments about January being a hard month suggests to me that maybe the owners are expecting this and are giving him time. Either way need to back the team even if you don't back the manager in the next few games as we need points qu...

Re: Who realistically replaces Paunovic…?

How does modest success at Chicago Fire and Serbia U20s qualify anyone for the Championship? Badly apparently. YR and I have very different views on what we should be looking for. Has he gone yet btw? Think there’s a little too much emphasis on prior experience. Hughton, Warnock, McCarthy and Jokan...

Re: Who realistically replaces Paunovic…?

It's nice to have another in our small band who think this way, but you'll not find the Team board receptive. But yet I've also stated this and you think myself and yourself have completely different views on what we should be looking for? Unless you were speaking specifically about a replacement m...

Re: Who realistically replaces Paunovic…?

but id keep pauno till end of season, at least highly doubt many managers could do better with 1/2 the squad injured all the time (though why that is, is another matter) and with our financial constraints, squad/contract issues, and threat of relegation etc, who the oxf*rd would want to come in and...

Re: Who realistically replaces Paunovic…?

id take any one who threw playing out from the back & zonal marking in the bin though. Ainsworth? Ainsworth would probably do well short term but I don't think he would be afforded the time to get it all right, we don't exactly have a good history of keeping managers long term which is why I'm ...

Re: Who realistically replaces Paunovic…?

Yes but in League Two. The cup run is good and being regular contenders for promotion from League Two is also good for a club like Newport, he did a very good job there but why is he suddenly good enough for where we want to be because of that? I'm not saying he couldn't do well with us, I just don'...

Re: Who realistically replaces Paunovic…?

Because he seemed like a decent fit. I'm not suggesting he was the best choice, but had a style of play that suited our good players and has a history of good youth development that obviously suits our academy. But just looking at some of the other names that I've seen dotted around as his replaceme...

Re: Who's to blame?

I did say it's probably not too far from the truth and obviously I am not aware of every other EFL clubs' situations either but we aren't exactly in great shape and it was more given at this moment in time rather than looking over the history books. We've only actually finished in the top 10 twice s...

Re: Relegation

Baring in mind we play Luton is our rearranged fixture towards the end of the month I don't think they will be wanting to get dragged into anything either. Having said all of that, those are not the 3 teams we need to be focusing on at the moment, we just need to get a couple of wins this month and ...

Re: Who realistically replaces Paunovic…?

In fairness to Paunovic, after doing a bit of digging when he was first appointed, he actually sounded like somebody that seemed a fairly sensible appointment. Whilst being relatively inexperienced, he spent a considerable amount of time at Chicago Fire, doing a decent yet unspectacular job and enjo...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Fulham (h)

[ I quite like the idea in concept but I think Fulham would tear us to shreds if we were to play that open against them and I can't imagine being on the end of a hefty defeat is going to do much in the way on confidence either, not that it could be much lower. I would at least give it it a go. I am...

Re: Relegation

Actually, just to contradict myself, it's impossible to say whether we need to beat Peterborough or not. I'm only basing that off that we are above them now, we might not be at the time so the opinion might be different come the day of the game. I do think we should go there and win and not to avoid...

Re: Relegation

Not as if current lot are pulling up trees. Some good players there. Get the 8 wins needed to stay up and let’s have fun rebuilding. Follow the brentford model and cream off other academy stars not offered long term contracts. 100%. This is a perfect opportunity to rebuild. Derby's task is still fa...
