Re: Royal Elm Park

I wonder whether the name is a potential problem of etiquette ? Towns such as Royal Wootten Bassett are granted the 'Royal' bit by the Queen. Can someone simply decide to call something 'Royal' without permission ? Might be on a par with calling somewhere a 'city' when it is still officially a town...

Re: Pointless statto questions

12th/13th/15th were Good Friday/Easter Saturday/Easter Monday. In those days we always seemed to play on the Saturday whenever public holidays fell. I can remember (just) watching Chelsea play Arsenal on Christmas Day 1956 and the return fixture was on Boxing Day. They then played on the following S...

Re: The departed starts we couldn't do without ?

Federici got a start for Bournemouth yesterday. Saw the highlights and was surprised to see how many times he punched (or rather pushed) the ball away when the catch seemed simpler. Indicates a loss of confidence to me.

Re: Next Six Games

The last 2 performances haven't been great but we've returned 4 points, not too shabby. Why I think Brighton might fall away is they haven't been blowing teams away, not a single victory but more than a single goal, that's rarely the mark of champions. Nevertheless Saturdays game at Fulham now appe...

Re: How Times Have Changed.

3m10s in - I've still got that tie ! And the result of that game on 2nd May was Oxford United 1-2 Reading, shame there's no video footage of that game as that must have been very interesting on the terraces. I remember it well. Awarded a last minute penalty and an Oxford skinhead jumped the wall/mo...

Re: How Times Have Changed.

This must have been posted before but I have to confess I've never seen it if it has. A news report from 1983 about the proposed merger between Reading and Oxford. For particular interest to those who still think Madejski saved us from Maxwell. Check out the Tilehurst Road training ground. Oh and t...

Re: How Times Have Changed.

Marvellous stuff. Roger Smee and Frank Waller.... heroes. Don't think so. Frank Waller was one of the 3 directors who agreed to the sale to Maxwell. The deal was eventually scotched by another director, Roy Tranter, launching a legal challenge which led to the band of 3 resigning and leaving the wa...

Re: Will our keepers cost us promotion?

In the division at the moment we have; The lowest amount of shots conceded: 7.3pg (next lowest is Brighton at 10.9) The second lowest percentage of shots on target conceded: 27.4% (the lowest is Derby with 26.1%) The 7th highest goal conceded to shot ratio: 35% (Brentford - 35.2%, Rotherham - 35.9%...

Re: Will our keepers cost us promotion?

Our last ten league games we have had 5 clean sheets and conceded 1 goal x 5 times We have the equal best defence in the league. Not bad for "no keepers" pretty sure it`s down to our strong defence rather than the keepers. like to see the stats for off and on target shots against us this ...

Re: Opposition fans before the game

I'm not just saying this because it's Brighton and they have a bee in their bonnet about us, but I really do believe they won't finish in the top 6. They've started well yes, but with the squad they have I don't see it myself. Their only plus point is Houghton who's done it before at this level. I ...

He has not reffed a championship game since March 2014 and only ever done three, and only two league 1 games this season.
I don't like the sound of this too much.

Hang on a minute. Those numbers above do not agree with that database. Which is right?
