Re: Ex Players

Lita, Asaba and Convey are all a mixed bag. Lita was quality in 106, and a small spurt in the first prem season, but he never really performed consistently and ended up failing. Convey - FDTW has summed up perfectly. Asaba actually did ok in a poor team, and was only here 1 season, but didn’t meet ...

And talking of Reading record signings, only Steve "the greatest ever short goalkeeper the world has ever seen" Death (£20k in 1970, Terry Hurlock £92k in 1986, Keith Curle £150k in 1988 and Darren Caskey £750k in 1996) could be said to have been successful. The rest, Steve Moran, Craig M...

Re: Ex Players

Aluko + a manager/coach who knows what he's doing rather than Aluko + a chain of complete failures without a clue between them. He knew what he was doing by giving Aluko one 88th minute appearance from the bench this season, Still - it dispels some of the nonsense you saw about his “bad attitude” g...

Winston Biscuit West Ham have conceded more goals than every team in La Liga, every team in Ligue 1, every team bar one in Serie A and every team bar one in the Bundesliga.

To be fair, they've conceded more goals than any club in the Premier League outside the bottom 3.

Boo! Should allow it, just for the

Tbf, our U21s put 9 past Exeter last season.

To be really fair, Exeter's U21s

To be absolutely, completely fair, it was Exeter's U19s

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

And another thing, which will no doubt crop up sooner or later. The top 16 U21 sides qualify for the EFL Trophy. However, there is a rule that says U21 sides of clubs in Leagues 1 or 2 are excluded. So we don't get to enter twice, and presumably 17th-placed Southampton get a place instead. Boo! Sho...

Re: Ups & Downs 23/24

To be fair, the SPL hasn't been great this season. Celtic and Rangers have been poor. Hearts are a clear cut above the rest. Solid defensively and in Shankland, have genuine quality up front Kilmarnock have been functional but hard to beat. St Mirren got off to a flyer but have been pretty poor sinc...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

as a very casual observer of Scotch football can someone help me understand why there is a clamour from the rubbish sides to make it into the top half of the table for when the split happens? (or is there not a clamour and its just a media thing) Its surely much better to be the best side in the bo...

To be fair, their performances do seem to have reflected a slack witted half arsery that evidently is endemic within the culture of the club.

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Ali's mental and physical health concerns are well publicised. He hasn't played a game this season but he's on £100k a week. Did Ron Gourlay write up the contract? Young's 37 and on £85k a week.iys stupid money. It's all "sell x,y and z, give Branthwaite a big contract and then sign 3 more play...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Keep hearing a lot of Everton fans saying "Just sell x, y and z and we'll save £30m in wages". Err, no one's going to pay Neil Maupay anywhere near the £70,000 a week you're paying him so he's got zero incentive to go anywhere til his contract runs out next summer. They signed Deli Ali and...

Re: Ups & Downs 23/24

The Old Firm don't play each other in the league any more times than they used to before the split was introduced. It does mean that pretty much every game from now on matters, whether it's for the title, European qualification or relegation so I'd say it's a decent enough innovation in what is othe...

Jim Ratcliffe has declared that we wants to end the work from home culture that has crept into non playing staff, starting with the first team squad.

I think it's incredible that when West Germany won the World Cup in1954, their whole league structure was amateur. It only became professional at the creation of the Bundesliga.
