Re: Time to drop Rafael?

Isn’t it funny how our memories are only as good as the last few games? 7 points clear at the top, best defensive record in the country, some great saves and we were discussing how much a decent keeper adds to our success. A few games of horrific defending, errors pretty much all across the back 5 ...

Re: WLTB Anything with a smaller crest

Buy yourself one of these T shirts, cut the label out and use that? (Might be too small) - Maybe cut the whole square label out and have it sewn on as a square? https://fanstore.readingfc.co.uk/MOONTEE or maybe a Tie found under the gifts section? https://fanstore.readingfc.co.uk/RFCTIE Facemask? ht...

Re: Sjm country pad for sale

I remember a documentary about Sir John Madejski and he took the viewer on a guided tour of this place, I think it was still under construction/not yet ready at the time. Things I recall about it, facts that may be a bit twisted due to time: He was hands on with the specs and made sure the shower ca...

Re: Pauno at STAR Fans Forum 11 November

Ever since this was announced we have lost both games, coincidence? I think not! Pauno upsetting all the traditions - back in the day of Burns and Pardew the manager typically pulled out a good result or two before the Fans Forum .... to the point we considered having the FF every fortnight! He's d...

Re: How many Managers have you been through ?

Eddie took control of the team for one day while Paunovic was in isolation. I would put that down as somewhere between a genuine caretaker and that time McDermott picked the team against Man United (with Cisse at centre back). Statistically that makes him our most successful manager then - P1, W1, ...

Re: Fragments of Elm Park

If only we had a 3d model of Elm Park, we could start to piece it back together with all the fragments still in existence, sold on toto fans or taken by fans for safe keeping (you know who you are), sold on elsewhere and then just replicate the rest. I can contribute some urine towards a recreation ...

Re: How many Managers have you been through ?

Quinn always seemed to get the blame for stuff at the time, but he did go on to manage at a lower level... did Mick? Does managing a local estate agent count as a lower level? I think it was more a realising he didn't need a co-manager, not agreeing to stay on as manager himself when they wanted ri...

Re: Fragments of Elm Park

Yes, it was 2003 when the "five fragments" got mentioned. I'm sure of four of them. Tilehurst End - there was a bit of brick wall left standing because the other side was something like a sub-station. South Bank towards the Tilehurst End - there was painted white wall left because it back...

Re: Fragments of Elm Park

I'd like to think in 100 years an android version of Tony Robinson will be presenting Time Team and the resident artist will re-create Elm Park based on the 5 remaining fragments found on the site. The drawing will probably look something like this: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/42/dd/83/42dd83a424...

Re: What has changed so much from last season?

My point being, if Olise leaves, irrespective of us gaining promotion, because he is a free transfer at the end of the season, does he sign for a big team and not play, like Sidwell, or sign for a middling Prem team on more money than we can offer, still play but not achieve what he could? Or stick...

Re: Pauno at STAR Fans Forum 11 November

We've been aware that 'exiled' STAR members can't enjoy the same benefits and we're also aware the nature of the Fans Forum has shifted over the last 20 years from effectively a private members meeting to an event that can be / is reported more broadly. Brian McDermott said the Leeds fans forums op...

Re: Would you take 4th place now?

I'd be tempted if it was a 2nd place and automatic promotion, just for the sake of the club finances but personally I want the title, I always want the title and although the season is at the early stages I believe we have a chance of getting it. I would not take a playoff spot now as I believe we h...

Re: What has changed so much from last season?

But not now and for as long as we remain in contention for promotion with the prospect of him starting next season as an establish member of a top flight team rather than sat on Dortmund’s bench. But that was what happened with Sidders. I always fear that happening to our best players. Sidwell didn...

Re: What has changed so much from last season?

We looked good last season when Joao was fit but toothless when he didn’t play, I get very much a Jason Roberts feeling about him, when he’s playing everyone plays better and when he isn’t there we dearly miss him. It’s very difficult to play against someone that is strong enough to battle many def...

Re: What has changed so much from last season?

Simmops What has changed so much from last season?
No fans in the ground groaning and moaning when things don't go to plan and knocking player confidence.

Steve Coppell in the 106 season wasn't able to put his finger on the reasons for their success, I suspect the same can be said of our current great form.
