Re: Rival Watch

3rd of the matches played- who looks as if they could be for the drop ? Barnsley look woeful and on Saturday’s performance Luton could join them. Think Wigan could join them. Barnsley are done I think. Not won since the opening day and bar the odd late equaliser it's a surprise when they pick up ev...

Swift's new role

Interesting to see Swift's form this season. Full fitness and confidence is clearly important, but I think he's matured and adapted his role too. If you'd asked most Reading fans a year ago, we'd have said his best role was a "no. 10" behind the striker, trying to make things happen. But t...

Where does 10 points from 4 rank in terms of best start by a new Reading manager? I can't remember better.

Re: Rival Watch

Stoke appoint O'Neill. Is he going to turn around their fortunes and drag them up the table? My view is no. Similar to Sunderland and Coleman.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Luton Town (h) sponsored by Sean Evers

It was and Watford and Leeds were the only two teams we didn't beat that season, drew all 4 of those games. Knew Leeds, forgot Watford. Christ we were great. We weren't great in some games though, the 0-0 Watford away and Southampton away spring to mind  Both Watford games were dire 0-0s. I re...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2013/14

Aaron Kuhl and Jack Stacey sign their first pro contracts with Reading today. http://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/article/jack-stacey-aaron-kuhl-sign-for-reading-101213-1227477.aspx More good news. Had been hearing whispers of interest from bigger clubs in Kuhl so good to see him on a reasonably long d...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Luton Town (h) sponsored by Sean Evers

Anyone remember it ?? 1st match at the Madejski stadium versus Luton 22nd August 1998. We won 3-0 with Grant Brebner scoring the 1st goal. A repeat of the scoreline on Saturday would be nice. Yep. Didn't Fleck get one too? One of only two teams to beat us in the 106 season too. I saw both of them :...

Re: Sone Aluko to China!

Would absolutely love a £7.5million right winger though doing what he was bought for, that'd be great. The thing is he's not really a right winger, which is where we got it wrong with him. Just another in a long line of players in the last few seasons who did well elsewhere but were shite for us. V...

Re: Sone Aluko to China!

We should do everything to shift in Jan, even if it's free.....however if we're stuck with him he may as well be around the squad. He had shown his quality throughout his career before joining us. He's clearly a confidence player who was at the club in the dire Gourlay era. I wouldn't say I expect ...

Re: Rival Watch

I think Sawyers is right up there amongst all the more illustrious names to be fair. Bargain at £3m; controls games.

Swift is having his best season to date for us, but still has a little way to go before being considered a top player at this level.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Not sure this is the place, but Smith's loan is going well this year. Still only 21. If he gets 15-20 goals in League 2 this year, surely he's worth having around the squad next year?

Re: BFTG Millwall

2 world wars, 1 world cup We were doing well.

Then Blackett came on.

Tbf he's barely played all season. Blackett has proven himself a reliable, professional squad player at this level, though admittedly he will never be a star at this level.

Re: 2019/20 Injury Watch

CrowthorneRoyal I spoke to Liam Moore after the match and he came off the pitch cos he was knocked out in the second fall. Said his shoulder was hurt in first half but was fine after the match.

What are modern concussion protocols? Pretty sure the safe thing would be to sit him out of the Luton match.

Re: Rival Watch

The league does seem open this year. If you look at our results against Preston, Swansea and WBA we should be capable of competing higher up the table. Consistency is key. The humble pie we may all have to eat over Bowen is currently heating up in the oven after the first 3 games; being top half by...

Re: BFTG Millwall

So just to clarify, most are of the belief that Swift's free kick was unlucky and worth a go but URZZZ thinks that it may have been a better option to play the ball in so that it could be contested? Both pretty valid views especially as Swift didn't score. The rest of most of the last two pages hav...

Re: How times change

Interesting thread. It's all relative. Think about clubs we routinely played prior to the SJM era; they may look at us and say we lucked out. Swings and roundabouts, though admittedly no billionaire could take us to the heights of City as we don't have the fanbase to compete. Imagine us in a shiny 6...

Re: Ejaria vs Siggy

Ejaria is nothing like Sigurdsson. Swift is a much better comparison than Ejaria is to Sigurdsson And  at those who thinks it’s even close between one who played regularly for Spurs and Everton to someone who’s only just registered their first assist 12 games into the season I think he has the...
