Re: MATCHWATCH : Queens Park Rangers (a) sponsored by an Ingimarsson header

Odd changes to manage Obita's fitness and Meite's injury are to be expected. But please Bowen, no "WTF" changes as we became used to under Gomes. As much continuity as possible needed

Re: This is Poor

the initial post all those weeks ago was why the manager had to go and this has now been justified. Today wasn't so much about the result, it was the performance, the clearly improved team spirit. the better formation and structure. work in progress but if this keeps up, we will be ok. The manageri...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (h) sponsored by a new hope

Thought both Puscas and Meite did fine. Tough game and both showed up. Puscas really does make excellent runs and gets in the right places, so think it’s a matter of time before he gets a few Baldock was good off the bench as well. New option and looked fast and sharp. Gomes shat the bed with him. ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (h) sponsored by a new hope

GTFI!!!!!! Nothing quite like a last ditch winner as the clock strikes 5. Decent performance today - 0-0 would have been fair enough as did not create a great deal, but competitive. What a boost to get the late winner. Who was the legend that hit the pile driver that got parried? I’ve seen two game...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (h) sponsored by a new hope

Preston must be sick of the Madejski Stadium. Twice in a row they have been on a role and beaten by an average team in a relegation battle.

Last time it truly burst their bubble and they fell away. Wait and see this time I guess. Great result for us; overdue clean sheet. Good start for Bowen.

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

Ultimately the drama will fade. Good first interview. If he improves things on the pitch and gets us up the table he's a good appointment. If nothing improves and we go down he's a bad one. Performances will matter more, but that interview has persuaded me to give him the benefit of the doubt at first

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

Decent interview so far; happy to confront difficult questions. Only one notable negative: "I want to be careful about putting targets on the team - it can be a motivator or demotivator" Promptly followed by: "We are pushing for the play-offs and promotion" Why are we saying this...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

So most people would rather the club spends £millions on some Billy Big Bollox manager with a big wristwatch getting him here, who may well be disappointing and then we have to spend £millions getting him out. Rather than someone who must be relatively cheap, easy to offload and worth a shot. What ...

Re: England - the future....

Our guys have reacted very well. They may not win anything, but you have to feel affection for this England team. Reminds me how I used to feel about Reading. (Except Mings - he's a pcunt) Mings is a thug but should not have to tolerate racist abuse in this day and age. There remains a big problem ...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

According to J Low, Gunter and McCleary are to be brought back into the squad. Can’t find a place for Gunter personally although Yiadom is on awful form (perhaps down to tactics) but even though I’m not McCleary’s biggest fan, he could be an option as one of our only wingers, even if it is just bri...

Re: Next Manager

If it tells one thing, it's how unattractive we are to good experienced managers. Or that following the shoddy process of hiring Gomes, the club decided to get some form of succession planning in place so brought Bowen in as a consultant initially to see how he works - they liked what they saw so c...

Re: Howe out?

I think our owners are very well intentioned if you look at their investment in the club and gestures like away day travel. But they clearly don't know football well and seem to have the wrong people advising them. It's been a catalogue of bad decisions since they took over. I know Kia Joorabchian i...

Re: Howe out?

Who else would you recommend? I'm not sure if this is trolling or not, but Howe was CEO for the most successful era in our history. If things are still this shit in 4 years time, you can ask the question again.

Re: Next Manager

one advantage of Bowen, is it really shouldn't mean a case of trying to ship out a load of players/make loads of new signings again. Is that really an advantage ? there are players here that collectively have got multiple managers the sack. The clear out needs to continue for a few windows yet. Act...

Re: Next Manager

Wasnt Clarke rated highly as a coach? Doesnt guarentee being a good or even decent manager. He is a good coach and manager though, has done reasonably well everywhere he has been. Yeah, sure. But you get my point. Good coach does not mean good manager which is why I think it is a stretch to put it ...

Re: Next Manager

Apparently he interviewed well at Swansea last year but they, understandably, went for Potter. If this was an external appointment, I think there would be more understanding. An experienced, highly rated coach who is looking at moving into management. A risky move but potentially an ambitious one to...
