Re: Final tickets

Having had all the error messages mentioned above, I switched from FireFox to IE and got tickets first go.

Probably a coincidence, but trying it will at least give you something to break up the frustration.

What one question would you ask Brian McDermott?

A friend recently bumped into David Moyes. He got flustered and, faced with the boggle-eyed alchemist, only one thing came into his mind. ‘What colour is the wind?’ Fortunately, he managed to stay silent and Moyes moved on, in search of more cloggers to blacksmith into Premiership players. So, my qu...

Re: Reading's best ever centre back?

What no David Lee? Darius would get my nod for his sustained contribution, but going purely on ability you can’t look past Lee. Five games, five goals. Better on the ball then Darius. Read the game like he was psychic. The only centre half I’ve seen turn out for us who could excel in the sweeper ro...

Re: Jay Tabb

People tend to damn him with faint praise. His work rate and commitment often overshadow two very important qualities: he’s very tidy on the ball (good first touch, doesn’t give it away often) and he’s a very smart player. He doesn’t panic, he picks the right pass and he knows when he has time. He's...

Re: How excited are you about Sunday?

Any proof? And wikianswers is not proof. Don't know about Harry, but William is a Villa fan. "The second in line to the throne is virtually the only member of the family ever to have evinced any interest in the national game and has played it, in house matches at Eton and for a Sunday league t...

Re: How excited are you about Sunday?

How excited am I about Sunday? In the morning, I’m insulating the loft. So, yes, pretty f*cking excited. In the afternoon, I’ll be sitting down with my five month old daughter to show her her first ever Reading game on TV. I’ve got my shirt. She’s got her club baby-gro. It’s gonna be the best thing ...

Re: Reading Fixture on date of birth

My birthday is late May, so it falls on or about the play-off finals. For example, only days after my 18th birthday, we lost to Bolton. You may remember that one. Closest fixture to my date of birth was 14th May 1977. It was the final day of the season and we defeated Grimsby two-nil, sending them d...

Re: Who still wants Madejski to sell?

SJM is like an aging patriarch trying to look after a large family and set them up to manage when he’s gone. He wants the children to be happy but knows that most of the time it’s better not to give in to all the pestering but, instead, put up with whinging and tantrums knowing that, when finally th...

Re: Lita 1 C@nt Hammond 0

1. Great goal, but Lita was very rarely at his best in his last two years with us. Even if he'd wanted a new contract (which I've no idea), he hadn't earned one. 2. It’s a shame that we had to wait for Lita to be at a different team before he finally recognised that turning and running at defenders ...

Re: Start to the season - a comparison

RFC history suggests that we are most successful with a settled team playing a stable formation. At present we have neither of these things, so history suggests we are in for a rocky ride this season. Wonderful stuff as always, Strap. One minor thing on this point you made. History, I would guess, ...

Re: Back from the game - Watford (h)

There was so much wrong with Saturday, but the one that really troubles me is a formation involving only one centre forward. While everything else may improve with familiarity and switching out a few players, I just don’t think we have a single forward capable of playing on their own up front. That ...

Re: Back from the game - Watford (h)

Howard is in the team because he is a techninally decent player who is looking to go forward everytime he is on the ball. Struggled yesterday because he was asked to play in an unfamilar defensive position. Can I ask what he has done since he's been at the club, apart from give away possession on n...

Re: Arab takeover interest reported on tribalfootball.com

I'm sure, if we as a club turn out like Chelsea, we'd all go and support other teams. Dunno about you, but I'm a Reading fan, not a 'team's which exist sensibly within their means' fan. Regardless of cirumstance I will continue supporting RFC, and if you can't say the same then you ain't a real fan...

Re: Arab takeover interest reported on tribalfootball.com

You do realise, right, that we aren’t ever going to win the Premiership or be in the Champions’ League? Why not? Most certainly not now, but who knows what will happen in the next 25-50 years? Never write us off. Apologies, let me clarify. We live in a world of limitless possibilities where, occasi...

Re: Arab takeover interest reported on tribalfootball.com

Yet a selected few who have been calling for SJM's head over the past few years are still reacting badly to this? I’m not sure it’s at all clear that those who wanted SJM out are the same who don’t want him to sell now. That would, as you say, seem odd. More likely is that those who feel strongest ...
