Re: Shorey - How much will he go for?

A straight swap for Zamora would be nice. I'd want more than that for Shorey. Good left-backs are hard to find (as we will find out). Plus, would Zamora be a regular starter for us? Would he start over Kitson and Doyle? I'm not sure he would. Thus, we would have traded our starting left-back for a ...

Re: Transfer Policy and Squad Size - what do you read into it?

Sarah Star Why is it that Doyle is trying hard but poor, but Shorey is not trying hard enough? How do you know the difference?

The difference is that Doyle is the blue eyed boy in these parts.

That is, until he too announces that he wants to leave.

Re: Transfer Policy and Squad Size - what do you read into it?

andrew1957 I think Doyle had a poor season but always seemed to try his hardest.

Not sure thats true, or whether its a good thing even if it is.

You try your hardest and yet you are still poor?

Hey, if they gave me a game I'd try my hardest too.

People said the same of Andy Hughes. :|

Re: Shorey - How much will he go for?

Sids was happy to stay and play out his contract and to put in good performances. Shorey has wanted away for some time and has already been in poor form because of it. The only thing we should do if we can't get more than £1.5m for him is make him rot on gardening leave. We'll see who wants him aft...

Re: Shorey - How much will he go for?

What i dont understand is why shorey was even in the starting line up. Nigel howe commented 'he has not been happy for a long time' Well why the hell play him? Because even though he may have been unhappy, he was still better than anything else we had. Even though Shorey wanted out, as long as he w...

Re: The Over-reaction Thread

Schards#2 Some contrition from the RTG's who slagged off anyone who had the temerity to voice concerns about how the season might pan out and told them to piss off and watch swindon/united/chelsea/whoever, would be nice.

Good luck with that.

Re: Shorey - How much will he go for?

Huntley & Palmer Why not? Plenty of other players have done so to force the hand of the club that they are contracted to. I seem to remember a certain player we signed threatning to go on strike if his club didn't release him

You think Shorey is refusing to play for us this coming season?

Re: Shorey - How much will he go for?

If we aren't going to get much for him, I think we should consider keeping Shorey and let him play out the final year of his contract. Many said that was the mistake we made with Sids, but I'm not sure it was. It meant we got to use Sids for our (crucial) first season in the Premiership. If we're s...

Re: Reading second favourites to win league

I think this strictly neutral assessment from a Watford supporter summed it up better than any of us could. The league is worse than when you guys romped home and if you can the squad together I am sure you will be around the top 2. And so if we aren't, you'll be having a rant and calling for heads...

Re: Transfer Policy and Squad Size - what do you read into it?

A big LOL at those who have no time for Shorey.

Yeah, we'll show him, huh?

People said the same about Sids, and look where that got us.

Nah, we wouldn't miss Sids at all. And in a sad way, we pretended we didn't.

Little ole Reading...when will we ever learn...maybe never.

Re: Transfer Policy and Squad Size - what do you read into it?

I have very little time for Shorey now. We are better off without him and with a few £m more in our account. I would say that depends on who we spend that money on (assuming we spend it at all, which isn't certain). If spend it on players like Fae, then I would say, no, we aren't better off. Be tha...

Re: Transfer Policy and Squad Size - what do you read into it?

Unless the names you give have been thrown around by the club as likely to be sold there remains absolutely zero substance to your somewhat disrespectful post. "Nicky Shorey and a few others will be looked at as potential people to leave," said Howe in the Reading Evening Post. Carry on, ...

Re: Transfer Policy and Squad Size - what do you read into it?

Reading are now planning to trim their wage bill and Coppell has been told he must cut costs. "He won't have money unless he sells" Howe said. The likes of QPR and Birmingham must be thrilled to hear this. Anyone still think Coppell has the financial backing of the club/Mr Mad? How do you...

Re: Reading second favourites to win league

In some ways it's up to QPR whether or not they want to go up next year. They have soooooo much money. How much of it do they want to spend ? They've spent a little bit this year. Do they want to gradually feed in more money this year and consolidate in the top half with a good chance of a play-off...

we could well be in midtable at xmas, with alot of you thinking, coppell should have gone What, so you wouldn't be thinking that? Where would we need to be next season in order for you to think he should have gone? Somehow I get the feeling that we could be in the bottom 3 and Coppell would still b...

Re: 2:30 PM PRESS CONFERENCE REGARDING COPPELL'S FUTURE

Therefore we will be starting our Prem season with a new manager. Not sure if we will go up, but if we do the club will be faced with a far more difficult decision as to whether to try to retain Sir Steve then, than they faced this time. You will have some saying he isn't suited to the Premiership,...

Re: Transfer Policy and Squad Size - what do you read into it?

[It is a little worrying that he mentions getting rid of "stars" and generating transfer fees aswell as reducing the wage bill. Its worrying to me, too. I figured we'd keep our 'stars' to better ensure a promotion run. it doesnt take alot to work out "where all the cash has gone. all...

Re: Reading second favourites to win league

So here we are, 2nd favourites around the country, not just to get promoted...but to win the whole freaking ball of wax. Yet here we are in HNA?, thinking we'll finish 13th, and saying how hard and tough its going to be. Well, I guess we know little ole Reading better than most of them suckers out t...
