Re: Transfer Policy and Squad Size - what do you read into it?

Chairman, are you in a position to say today that Steve will have substantial financial backing from you to bring the team back up the the Premiership? As I've already expressed, the squad is too large at the moment so I think we'd have to do some trading to achieve that objective. At least that's ...

Re: 2:30 PM PRESS CONFERENCE REGARDING COPPELL'S FUTURE

As suspected, a bit of a pointless news conference. i think SKY realised that after about 10 minutes of drivel. Agreed, the rest of the world must have been watching, bored to tears, and thinking "Who gives a shiate?". Not sure why we needed the drama and publicity of a press conference t...

Re: Will the play-offs be ok?

So if its going to be so tough and difficult to get promoted, any theories on why we're 8/1 second favourites with the bookies, not to get promotion, but actually win the division?

Re: Will the play-offs be ok?

I'm quite happy being in the Championship. Fair enough, but it makes me wonder why fans then criticize the club for failing to establish itself in the Premiership and for failing to have Premiership goals/aspirations...when some of the fans aren't thinking 'Premiership' either. I wonder what the cl...

Re: Will the play-offs be ok?

If Coppell returns and we finish 16th, I'll be wondering if we should have parted ways.

Re: Who's pulling the strings?

If Coppells future is still undecided, who is calling the shots on who to retain and who to release? Or is it that Coppell is still in charge? ...Or is it that Coppell has little or no say in these things? I thought it was strange, too, but then this is Reading we're talking about. I would ...

Re: Bye Bye Oster

Reading fans know little about football, what a horrible fanbase we have. He's no glen little but he had a go. ROFLeading fans, one of the worst in england. Do you include yourself in that damnation? Or is it just everyone else? I would agree that Oster 'had a go'. He has 'had a go' at numerous clu...

Re: The worst manager........

Royalee
notloyalenuffroyal In recent years Alan Pardew and Mark McGhee both have better records than Coppell and had less resources to work with.

And yet to read this forum, you'd think Pardew and McGhee were the two worst managers we've ever had in our long storied history. :|

Re: Bye Bye Oster

Thanks for the memories john. Much like marek he was one of the most technical players in the squad. You could tell he'd been given a premiership education and it showed. The problem with oster in the side is that we have championship mentality players who were never in the position they should be,...

Re: Apologies here please:-

I think Coppell is certainly staying now, a week ago I thought he was definitely off but today with a released list out, s urely Coppell must have had the final say?! Would be bizarre to release players then someone else take over, not beyond the realms of possibility but unusual. Maybe he has no s...

Re: Bye Bye Oster

So, uh, who made these decisions to release these players while the status of the manager is in limbo? Was it Coppell...even though he could be leaving anyway? Is this a sign that Coppell is staying? What if he leaves, and the new manager would have wanted to keep these players?

Re: Should he stay or should he go?

Coppell had an APPALLINg season last season in all honesty, no really decent signings, numerous bust ups within the squad, some wretched performances and we went down. If you judge him solely on last season, there isn't another top flight club that would even conisder keeping him on next season. Th...

Re: Should he stay or should he go?

I think we wants to be sure that if he stays on he will be 100% behind the cause I would not have thought this is something he needs to think about. If he stays, then just like any other club's manager, it should be a given that he'd be 100% committed. If it isn't, or there is some doubt, then he n...

Re: Should he stay or should he go?

It seems around 99% in here want him back.

So I'm curious...what happens if he comes back and we're crap next season?

Would we in here be in any way accountable? Would we criticize ourselves?

Or would we criticize the club and Mr Mad?

Re: THREE MORE GOALS

Yes, but in order to score 3 more goals (and thus stay up) we would have had to 'do a Leeds', spend massively, mortgage our future, and put the club at great risk financially. :P

Re: Should he stay or should he go?

He has done a good job and I want him to stay. But I'm starting to wonder if he should go. He clearly has a lot of doubts such that, even if he decides to come back, it would be with misgivings and mixed feelings. His reservations and concerns could mean that he, and we, might be better off if he go...

Re: THE INQUEST

Gordons Cumming If we lose Coppell we can forget about bouncing back.

He is the best we've ever had and we must keep him at all costs.

Well, he has another year left on his contract. So not sure the club needs to do anything really.

If he decides to walk, what can they do?

Re: THE INQUEST

What is the point in fans apportioning blame? We've gone down. We may come back up, we may not. We may even go straight down again. If you can't accept that someone has to lose and someone has to be relegated each season then maybe you would be happier if you found something else to do on Saturdays...

Re: Back from the (last PL) game

Coppell is more suited to the Championship and getting teams promoted. He has one year left on his deal. So lets hope he stays for that year and gets us straight back up...and then leaves.
