It's become more apparant that we played above ourselves last season and it's games like today where we're reminded that we're a Championship side - the same players would have lined up together in a game two years ago. Sadly, you speak the truth, Don Finch. The only positive I can find is that if ...

Tinrib The transfer window can't come quick enough for me, and I 'kin hope we pick up some quality, who will be 'Premiership ready'.

I wouldn't bet on it. I still won't be shocked if we don't do much in the window.

If Copps goes and we got Pards or McGhee back, I wouldn't renew my season ticket. Why not? Pards and McGhee are two of the best managers we've ever had. You go back in our history and look at all the bad managers we've had - and boy, we have had some absolute crap - and yet nobody ever mentions tho...

If you have no midfield then you will get found out at this level, end of. Lets face it, Gunnar wouldn't get into any other Premiership side. It was a bad result aginst a bad team in a game you are looking to - and needing to - win if you want to stay up. If alarm bells weren't sounding before, they...

Scarface I think the away following is getting slightly fed up that we spend a lot of money and so far I've not seen an away game where we've actually tried to win!!!

Heh, for a moment there I thought you were talking aboout the club, as in buying players :P

Re: Would you welcome Sidwell back?

I am not sure if I would be happy to see him return here. We could definitely use him and there is no doubting his talent but after the manner in which he left... There was nothing about the manner of his departure that upset me. And even if there was, we aren't in a position of luxuary that we can...

Harper is premiership standered and ok he might have one or two off games but every is allowed them. All of our players are premiership standered, if they are not why are they here? Coz we don't have anyone else? As Mr Partridge just said, our current 'Premiership' midfield is worse than the one we...

Dirk Gently It'll be a long, hard season - painful at many times - and by the end of it we'll see who are the real fans and who are the glory-hunters.

Lemme guess Dirk...you'll be one of the 'real' fans, right?

Top Flight I hope Shorey does get selected for England. That should add a few more pounds to his resale value!

...or it will now cost us even more to re-sign him to a new deal...which we should have done a while back. Don't be fooled, though, we always do things the right way.

Just a question. If last season hadn't happened and this was our first in the Premier Division, would those people ringing their hands in dismay now, actually be commending us on our fine start to the season.? I doubt it. It wouldn't have taken long for the pi$$ing and moaning to start in earnest. ...

Behindu The psychological impact of yesterday's game cannot be underestimated. A defeat might have finished our season.

Jeffers217 Derby were better than us today

And thats who we now compare ourselves to...the bottom club and by far the worst team in this division...Derby. The Pompey's of this world are now out of our reach, apparantly. We can't compete.

Ian, do you disagree?

The point is that Derby will be at or near the bottom all season, and if we beat them it's a direct result against one of our rivals against relegation. In that respect, it is a far more important result than the result aginst Pompey. We ain't going to be competing with them for anything this year....
