Re: The Bundesliga Hobnob battle thread 19/20

Oh come on.

Wolfsburg at home to relegation threatened Frankfurt and .... bloody one-nil down already

I hate football (until Wolfsburg come back to win, obviously)

Update : 1-1 (don’t hate football as much  )

Re: Biggest Reading FC injustices

What about the abandonedFA Cup gameagainst Bury where we were 2-0 down and on our way out . IIRC. Didn’t they present us with some forks afterwards as we had been unable to locate any to help drain the pitch... We were in the Tilehurst end that night. Just walking from the Rose and Thistle to the g...

Re: The Bundesliga Hobnob battle thread 19/20

Congrats Bayern. Well the excitement of the German season lasted a long time then Thinking about putting my old avatar back, tbh. Even though Wolfsburg are currently 1-0 up against Bayer 04. 8) Yeah the season is over now, avatar changed. I will still support Augsburg in their relegation battle tho...

Re: 2019/20 Season - How will it end?

Yup. all domestic cups in Europe (excluding League Cups obviously) in all countries carry a CL spot. After all in a knockout competition you are effectively champions having been the last man standing in knockout competition. I've never understood how 4th place carries such a reward when the the te...

Re: Biggest Reading FC injustices

Watford. In our favour. But the biggest injustice must've been Bodin being sent off for us for two yellows when he didn't commit the foul, the ref just cocked up. We lost our best player that day. And to double the injustice the club then didn’t bother appealing it meaning Gareth Davies, the actual...

Re: Interesting news article coming out of Yorkshire....

...and Sheffield Wed didn't transfer ownership of the stadium and declare the income in the same year so a blatant fiddle of FFP. Agreed, if any team is going to have the book thrown at them, it will be Sheff Wed. Derby look to be right in the mire too. If you declare an asset at a value on your ac...

Re: Biggest Reading FC injustices

Terry Hurlock's red card at Wigan.

Wigan player attacks Big Tel, bounces off and apparently that was enough for a red.

OK, not really. That was bad but McAteer trumps the lot with bells on

LUX On the positive side that ghost goal at home to Rochdale in 1975.

The great Tommy Youlden
Although that was at the other end to us, we were right behind it and didn't celebrate as it was so obviously wide

If we got the wrong one it might explain a few things.

Maybe we got the right one in the first season and he was substituted after the Play-Off Final

Re: 2019/20 Season - How will it end?

It is the league cup so maybe should just be EFL teams , but can you imagine the EFL giving up the chances to have the big boys involved and have Europe as a prize? Keep Europe as a prize but exclude from qualifying for Europe any team which fields less than half their 'first team' in ANY round. No...

Re: The Bundesliga Hobnob battle thread 19/20

I really enjoy Erling Haaland's monosyllabic interviews. Interviewer: <long spiel about first game back, got a goal, relief etc etc> ... despite no crowd you went to the corner to celebrate. Haaland: 'why not?' Interviewer: 'did your celebration mean something in particular?' Haaland: 'Yes.' Listen...

Re: The most charismatic/moronic fan we have or have ever had

If it's 'Super Fan' then Blackie and his coat(s) has to be in the running. Not sure how he fits with the definition of 'charismatic' though. Is he still alive? I remember him! Still alive, still every game, coat newish and ‘improved’, probably coat v2.0. It must be at least v4. Story goes he saw so...

Re: Players who virtually won us games/promotion/avoided relegation on their own

How did we manage to get relegated in 82/3 with the top scorer in the division ?

Ah, it's all right, I remember now.
We had the sh!ttest defence ... so much so that poor Kerry managed to score 4 in a game and still lost.
I think that's another record we may have

Re: Players who virtually won us games/promotion/avoided relegation on their own

SCIAG I do think we’d have stayed up if Coppell had been less loyal to Sonko and instead picked someone more reliable, like Andre Bikey. But the margins were so narrow that we can blame literally everyone and still be correct.

Failing to put the finishing touches to signing Gary Cahill didn't help

Re: Players who virtually won us games/promotion/avoided relegation on their own

Ibrahima Sonko single handedly got us relegated from the premier league in 2008 with all the stupid penalties he gave away :x :| I agree with RJ Wasn’t anything to do with the fact we got 0 points out of 12 from the two teams directly directly above us (Bolton and Fulham) And conceding in at least ...
