Re: Opposition fans back from the game

Hot take: the only sense it makes sense to talk about being a “bigger club” is how attractive you are to potential players. If a player moved between your clubs, in which direction would it be a step up - or would it be a sideways step either way? Bournemouth are therefore a bigger club than Notting...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bournemouth (h)

Yeah no bitterness to him. Did wonder if maybe he’d cancel the Bournemouth deal and join us in this window but not heard anything on it I got the impression Bournemouth paid a hefty loan fee, hence him being sent there over us. If that was the case then I don't think there'd be an option to recall....

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bournemouth (h)

The Riquelme question is very fair imo. Hes played 100 odd minutes? He could easily have featured heavily for us so far this season. But I'm not upset. Aluko has done well and we are finally getting some value from him. This looks a bit like the Richards scenario, do you go with the bigger team (Ba...

Re: Ex Players

Yeah people have said an awful lot about Aluko, but never once have I seen anything about him being a troublemaker, he's always been very professional in interviews, and even accepted his year in exile without moaning. For trouble-makers I'd be looking towards Stam era signings. Aluko was a Stam-er...

Re: Best player you've ever seen play against us

Could do a whole XI of Arsenal players probably. Henry is the obvious one as mentioned, but Fabregas in the same match was not far off, and Walcott, Cazorla, and Sanchez each put us to the sword with help from the likes of Wilshere, Oezil, and Oxlade-Chamberlain. That’s too many attacking midfielder...

Re: Tim Dellor's massive news

To aid the accuracy of his commentary all players are changing their name to Chris Gunter so he stops misidentifying them all regularly. Or he's realised that Ejaria and Richards really don't look the same! The bigger issue imo is how much he confuses Richards and Moore, who don’t even have the sam...

Rafael Holmes Morro McIntyre Richards Laurent Rino Olise Swift Ejaria Joao Southwood Yiadom Meite Aluko Baldock Esteves Gibson Semedo Tetek Proper options on the bench and nearly full strength first 11 Yep loads of options on the bench. We would then only have three out through injury one of whom (...

Re: January window

Seems fairly likely that we are trying to get Reiss Nelson in from Arsenal. Seriously? Would be an excellent addition. Source? Definitely a good player - where does he play exactly though - not quite sure where he fits in. Sort of RWB isnt he? Attacking midfielder/winger. 7 goals in 29 appearances ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (a)

The ref can't book players until they've done series of fouls as individuals, unless they are bookable offences on their own. So not sure what more the red can do other than wait for individual players to tot up their fouls. It's a known problem within the laws of the game that even the best sides ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

We’ve had a few at youth level in recent years. Noor Husin and Josh Barrett both managed it, and I have a feeling someone else has since then (Holsgrove?). Can’t think of it happening for the first team, but it’s been legal for nearly 100 years so you’d think it would have happened.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (a)

Maybe play Esteves as our Right Winger? Holmes as RB? I dont like it but it might be the best we have. Esteves has really done nothing to suggest he can play RW Then perhaps play Holmes as our Right Winger? Esteves as RB? Could only see that working as a kind of anti-football. Hoof it to the big gu...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (a)

3-4-3?

Rafael
Holmes- Morrison - McIntyre
Esteves - Rino - Laurent - Richards
Swift - Joao - Ejaria

Main issue is that Swift and Ejaria both like operating in the left hand channel. Feels like Aluko is the only real option for that right hand side, though I’m sure Semedo could do a job.

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

Reading are such a bland football club. Yesterday at 5:13 PM #128 fernandopartridge said: The football club is made in the town and region's image. Yep... Boring as oxf*rd At least our football club is in our town. And I never realised The West Midlands had such an exciting image. Probably my fault...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Coventry City (h)

This is my concern about the team put out yesterday. Ejaria Olise and Swift together hardly make a tackle between them. Excellent as they are going forward they will leave holes in midfield. Coventry exploited that to the max. With Meite back you have a better tackler and someone closing the opposi...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Coventry City (h)

Tbf to Holmes after that dreadful backpass he was very good on the ball, drove forward nicely and used it well. I’m not a fan of knee-jerk reactions. Remember when people were saying McIntyre wasn’t good enough after one bad game? Esteves has also been a victim of that mentality. I haven’t seen any...
