Re: My Half Full Glass Appears to be Half Empty

Just got back from the game. Very bemused by Rodgers' team selection today. Davies and Karacan in central midfield against experienced players like Barton and Smith and Nolan? Big mistake. Surely would have made more sense to either have Harper starting or Mills at the back and Cisse in midfield. We...

Re: The build up - Chelsea 1st Aug 2009

You choosing to ignore the long-range shot from Heinze he let squirm under his body and then being beaten by Saha due to poor positioning? Popular misconception. Heinze's shot took a very slight deflection off Shorey a couple of yards in front of him which took it under his body. He had it covered ...

Re: RFC vs Nottingham Forest FC 8th August - Predictions.

0-0. we'll be tight at the back, play decent football in midfield but have no cutting edge.

Re: The build up - Chelsea 1st Aug 2009

The way i see it, Federici gets excused mistakes that Hahnemann would have got slaughtered for.

Re: The build up - Chelsea 1st Aug 2009

I never said federici was the answer, you are right on that man utd game, he was crap. Hahnemanns mistakes in those last two games effectively cost us promotion, although one would argue we lost it months before. Federici might not be the answer, but hahnemann was getting on and at that age keepers...

Re: Bobby Robson's best game?

Dare I say it, vs Poland in Mexico 86. Lost to a shit Portugal side, drew with Morocco, needing a 2-0 win against a decent Poland side to progress? Barry Davies going mental, laughing his head off in the background of Motty's commentary as Lineker completed his hat-trick? I'd also like to re-iterat...

Re: Manuel Almunia England keeper?

Scored a good freekick though from just outside his box! I remember when he was younger he had a spell at Leeds that was superb and even kept Nigel Martyn out of the side.....shame he didn't really build on that. So being first choice for England for a couple of years isn't building on keepin...

Re: Your favourite defunct football clubs

Bradford Park Avenue. Not defunct, I watched them a couple of times last season. Play at Horsfall Stadium, an athletics stadium spitting distance from Odsal. They're in the Unibond League and were in the same division as FC United last season. Division 2, I think. Always had a soft spot for Meadowb...

Re: All Time Football League Table

What year did Leeds join the league? It's a bit of a miss match as teams who were founder members of the football league like Notts Co and Bury are well up the list and above Chelsea! The best guide for Reading would be the teams who joined the football league in div north and South in 1920. Leeds ...

Re: Could we be involved in a relegation battle?

Snowball, you forgot to mention that Aldershit went bust and out of the league. Also I think Colchester went out of the league at some point and now are back in the league. Exeter and Lincoln are back in the league. Cambridge is not in the league any more as well. Darlo also went out of the league ...

Re: even Bangor's got a billionaire

Not sure how relevant the comparisons to Gretna are. Gretna were elevated to a position way beyond their resources and infrastructure by Mileson's money. Bangor are already playing at a high level within the Welsh league system. Domination of the League of Wales is a very reasonable and attainable a...

Yes I do understand the difference between using the word "looks" rather than "is". The key difference being that I don't chose to ignore it's usage when used by people with a contrary opinion to my own. You just seem to be blindly attacking people for pointing out things that do...

Vision Curious what the response would be if we asked the Brits on here what American Football or Baseball teams they follow and why?

I have family in Boston so it's the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins.

My impression watching the clip was that he tended to dive in. Could be a bit of a liability knowing what the stanbdard of referreeing is. That aside, he looked composed and comfortable on the ball and shoed some pace - realtive, of course, to the player he was up against. What we dont know was whe...
