Looks like the attendance number is definitely not the number of people who attend the game

Looking again at match footage from the Villa game there are hundreds of empty seats. Anyone know how they come up with the "Attendance" figure?

I thought there were a lot of empty seats today. (Looked quite full in the away section). Strange that it should be a record attendance. Do they count all the STHs whether they show up or not?
