Re: Thames Sports Investment

The price usually quoted is £37M, but that ignores incoms items. The full breakdown was specified in a blog a few months ago : The land for the MadStad was purchased for just £1, of course, with the condition attached that it be decontaminated as it was an old toxic waste site. This process cost £6M...

Re: Thames Sports Investment

I thought that the land was actually owned by RBC not the Football Club, and that the Football club had it on a very long lease at a very small rent. JM was able to free up land that was sold for the retail park, which was able to be put into the stadium project. Very sensible moves by SJM, he keep...

Re: redknapp tax evasion - trial begins january

Lester Piggott went down for a similar offence. Don't think it matters how famous you are if you start fcuking over the Inland Revenue. Had completely forgotten about that! Did he use his accent as a defence too? Mr A, thanks for the details provided. It doesn't sound good for him does it! As I sai...

I think the relatively late change to this Saturday may have deterred some people.

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

BTW backing Carroll last night would have led to a refund as the first goal was scored before he came on the pitch so no money would have been lost on the bet so once again the baby rattler has been Kesed. Shame, becasue under his Liverpool shirt he's got a t-shirt with a message ready for when he ...

Yes, my reading of where they're going now is not trying to get off but in trying to minimise the sentence.

On February 5, 2011, Cywka was openly criticised by Derby boss Nigel Clough after his losing of the ball late in the game led to a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Portsmouth. Of Cywka, Clough said "He's an extremely inexperienced and not very bright footballer... he can go back to Wigan or whe...

Clearly been advised that he's bang to rights, so trying to deflect blame to the accountant rather than try and make out it didn't happen.

Was it Roberts who broke Marcus's hand at Ewood Park on random inflatables day in our first PL season?

Re: Academy Status

If for instance Chelsea or Arsenal came in for a 13/14 year old on our books under the current regulations, how would that work? All of the below assumes all the transitions to EPPP have taken place (it was only voted in place in October so is still bedding in and being implemented. At age 14 there...

Re: Blackburn fans

Summary?! AN extraordinary letter written by senior figures at Blackburn Rovers to the club’s co-owner, Anuradha Desai, proves they felt helpless at the direction the club was taking as early as January last year, just a few months after the takeover by Venky’s. There is even a plea for Mrs Desai t...

Re: Latest club accounts

I'm certainly not getting involved in this debate again, but I'll just post a factual piece on information on this. Swansea City announced a loss of £8.2million in the financial year ending on May 31, 2011. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2090954/Swansea-announce-8-2m-loss.html

Re: Academy Status

There is one other - crucial - bit of protection for smaller clubs (i.e. lower-level academies) which has been missed by most critics of EPPP. Including visitors to this board from South London And that's that there is a limit to the number of trainees which any academy can have at every age group. ...

Re: Safe Standing with new owners?

For information, the safe standing campaign suggests standing areas of around 15% - 25% of total ground capacity. Why suggest a %? Surely that is the clubs choice. Yes there will be supporters who want just a standard seat, so two stands of both, or three standing one seated. 15%-25% is not very mu...

Re: Academy Status

So not even 40k? Lovely stuff. Complete waste IMO. Anyone who looks top draw at a young age will get poached by the prem. Utterly diabolical this went through and completely anti-football. For information only, those compensation rates are for each year that the trainee has spend at the lower-categ...
