Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

In normal circumstances I would agree with all of the above. However . . . The continued existence of clubs has to take priority over all other factors. The rules, 'fairness', the integrity of the league .. . none of it is more important than a football club being able to continue operating and the...

Once were Biscuitmen Why have we played so many more games?

Is it because we are rubbish at cups?

There have been a few games postponed because of the weather.

Re: On this day

I also remember going away to Chesterfield in March for a routine 2-0 win, livened up by us singing "Abbie is a girl's name" at Chesterfield keeper Nathan Abbey for the duration of the second half. We had a relatively easy run in. I suffered my only bit of hooliganism after that game, spa...

Re: Selles In

Unfortunately I'm nowhere near that cool. I'm a commercial diver now and work on oil and gas platforms OK but you must have fought in some wars right? I mean we've got involved in a fair few in the last 30 years. We love it! I find it quite uncouth to speak about, all I'll say is imagine an away da...

Re: Selles In

Fair enough, maybe I'm over-egging it, but in a settled club I'm sure a lot of work is done before late June. The final game of the season is early in May - no managers would have seven weeks off.

Re: Selles In

I was never Selles Out. I wasn't particularly strongly Selles In either, except on principle, because I'm sceptical any manager should be given so little time (excluding serious off-field disciplinary issues). I don't think enough weight was given to the fact that this is a squad cobbled together at...

He discussed it in detail at the hearing, if you want to look back at the video. IIRC, the teams involved in Europe may already be aiming for this level, because of UEFA rules. His other point, besides reforming FFP, was that the parachute clubs have a massive advantage over everyone else. Think th...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

As I've posted before, when Rick Parry was before the Commons committee, he said the EFL's preference was to move to a squad-cost ratio (I think he said the costs of the squad should be pegged at a maximum of 70% of turnover), instead of the current system, so that the EFL could intervene pretty muc...

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

I don't think you can blame Selles on that score. Supposedly we haven't paid a loan fee for Monlouis, so either somebody has worked some good personal contacts, or Arsenal really want to give this guy plenty of experience of last-ditch defending. I'm sure the management team at Reading would have li...

hughsies no.1 He won't sign a new deal in the summer, so getting a fee for him now may be best option if it means we don't have to sell a Wing or Smith.
People keep pointing out we will get some kind of fee in the summer for Azeez.

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

As mentioned by another poster apart from Abbey we have lost everyone who fell out with Selles after the Vale game. Surely, Selles and Bowen knew about their transfers beforehand. Not necessarily. It wouldn't be hard to compare salaries to games started, and work out who was superfluous. That's als...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leyton Orient (h)

If you had larger crowds you might find more money spent on food and at the shop, but you have to balance that with the cost of employing more people to cater to them, or people will complain about long queues and poor service. Presumably you’d also need more stewards in the stand, too. Might not ac...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

If the owners can't afford the stadium now, how will they be able to afford it in 5-10 years? Barring a surge to the premier league, there's no way Reading FC is going to generate those sort of profits. They might have other sources of income? They might, but it's not really a 'plan' though. Just w...
