Re: Portsmouth Admin

Ian Herring No sympathy. Just a shame it wasn't a more 'iconic' club to collapse first.

The Premiership. Or Premier League. Or whatever you want to call what was once Division One of the Football League.

Where's your 39th game now, Scudamore, you tosser?

F*ck off.
yeah enter Rangers and Celtic lol

Re: Portsmouth Admin

out of the pan...and into that proverbial fire

Total debts seem to be more like the £100 million than the £60 to 70 million actually quoted

The administrators have 8 to 14 weeks to find a buyer to take this on

This is only a brief respite for Pompey

Re: F A Cup Nostalgia

Coincidently, didn't we draw Wealdstone in the FA Cup another time around then too? I recall a George Duck at Elm Park and IIRC a 1-0 win to Reading (with a possible Robin Friday sending-off????)....could be the alcohol addled mind playing tricks............but possibly a 10% chance of it actually ...

Re: Portsmouth Admin

Here's my take on Pompey. They bought the players that took them to the F.A. Cup Final with money they didn't have. That led to the Fulham game. Could we have stayed up if they had lived within their means? They could have been in 18th for all we know. There would certainly been one less good team ...

Badger Finger He appears to have verbal cancer though.

Edwin Collins is more coherent...

is that meant to be a (piss poor attempt at a) joke?

Re: New goal music

its the "Terry and June" theme or nothing for me what is all of this "goal music" bollox about anyway? Next, we will be having organ music (USA/Canada Ice-Hockey stylee) for free-kicks and substitutions.....no thanks....just focus on Reading killing the game off and scoring another

Re: Best RFC goalie of all time?

And a big LOL at 'flapper Hislop' - who supposedly gave him that? West Ham fans according to West Ham fans. Whilst you will get no arguement from me about Shakas achievements.............the clue is in the thread title, and the question is: how much of his illustrious career bounty was with Reading?

Re: Best RFC goalie of all time?

Flapper Hislop, unfair, but there you have it. I do recall periods of his time in the Prem not being a bowl of cherries for him.

Totally agree that he had a very very decent career tho', a shame that most of it wasn't with Reading

Re: Best RFC goalie of all time?

Shaka was still playing in the top flight in 2006 but you may have a point - Eric Cantona, Dennis Bergkamp, Gianfranco Zola, Thierry Henry, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Alan Shearer were all shit.  no disrespect to Shaka (legend), but can you recall the nickname that he was given by the fan...

Re: Reading Town FC

W&E play in the league below Reading Town I think that AS was referring to Windsor & Eton, Big Foot. Wokingham & Emmbrook are even more mickey mouse than RTFC, don't even start me on Wokingham & Emmbrook. AS - I am absolutely no football snob, but I just think that RTFC is an unfrie...

Re: Back from the game - Blackpool

I can safely say that 9 out of 10 people at Blackpool would have said something in frustration, criticising the team or a player. It's just that Jobi heard it and he reacted. We pay A LOT of money to watch our team and if we feel that the players, who's pockets our filled by our dedication, aren't ...

Re: Best RFC goalie of all time?

Can't make too much comment on Death as he was before my time, although Hislop played for the second best team in the land at the time whereas Death played three divisions below. To compare Shaka who was a regular for the best part of a decade in the Premiership to Hahnemann who is nothing more tha...

In my time...........whilst Steve Francis (and even Gary Westwood) won my admiration when it most mattered, it has be 1. Steve Death 2. Marcus 3. Shaka in that order Shaka >>>>>>>>>>>>>Hahnemann yes, but why? I take it Deathy was still better than Shaka tho'

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

The Conference Board need three quarters of member club backing votes to remove Chester from the competition, so far, four clubs have elected to keep them in, whilst many others still remain undecided. 23 out of the 24 from the BS Prem get to vote, whilst the BS South and BS North get 8 votes betwee...
