Re: The Oxford/Swindon rivalry explained

I was always told by Swindon fans when I worked there that the Oxford-Swindon rivalry was centred a lot around the Rover factories that used to be in both towns, especially when there was a strike in Oxford and Rover brought in scab labour from Swindon to break it, something that went to the very c...

Re: The Oxford/Swindon rivalry explained

Really? What do you mean by "Prwoper nawty" (sounds like something NSML would say) Admittedly I ask as someone who's never been to the fixture, but I must say I'm inclined to take the unusual position of agreeing with finerain. Nawty in terms of trouble. I recall leaving the Manor Ground ...

The Oxford/Swindon rivalry explained

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17224115

Can't help but think they've picked the :| rivalry in the Didcot triangle there.

Or is it fair enough with Reading's traditional rivals being Aldershot? Either way the A420 derby doesn't really have a ring to it.

West Stand Man
Red Why do they never announce how many English trained horses have won at Cheltenham?

Have you ever been to Cheltenham during the festival? It is an Irish town for the duration - hence the interest in Irish success.

Re: AFC Wimbledon

Big Foot 10/10 - much better than a day at the Madejski

Couldn't agree more and it's why I don't really understand the "Reading til I die" types, particularly those in permanent exile.

It's supposed to be entertainment.

Re: AFC Wimbledon

Yeh I've been a few times. Smashing little club. Love standing on the terraces, reminds me of Elm Park RIP.

Bit of a bugger to get to is the only problem, hope they one day manage to return to Merton.

Red Let's face it, if you start out with a sh!t load of money you've not got to be brains of britain (or Russia) to make more.

Fair enough.. although he is investing in a football club

I doubt he sees it as an investment, or at least that's not his primary objective.

Hopefully Reading FC will become Reading City FC http://www.getreading.co.uk/news/s/2107754_reading_odds_on_for_city_status Given they're not Reading Town now, I can't see why they'd change (other than at the behest of RBC to further their propaganda of course) Good use of "townsfolk" in ...
