Re: Summer 2023 Transfer Speculation

Would not blame Azeez at all for going, another opportunity in the Championship for him and his output has significantly improved over the last few months for us as well. He is quite a dangerous player in general, his pace is an asset where that seems to be a bit of a dying breed where we see more i...

Re: Weekend Football

3 wins in 16 for Brighton, injuries and Europe have taken a toll on their season A lot of talk on De Zerbi being in for both the Barca and Liverpool jobs, but not on this current season, I've actually been quite disappointed with them to be honest. May have expected it to be a bit more difficult wi...

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

I think he might do well at Pompey, I wouldn't be surprised if they looked to utilise him as a holding midfielder, although that's because I've always thought he could do a decent job there. If you need a good tackler to literally just sit and protect your CB's whilst shifting the ball to the more ...

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

On a personal level it’s definitely a shame with TMc. Obvs a good guy and will remember him well for that Has had potential as a player but I do think lack of pace and height do make him difficult to find a spot in the team for. Not young anymore either. Still absolutely best of luck to him and hop...

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

Budget restrictions in the Champ were about £8k a week. He'll have never been on a huge salary as we picked him up from Barnsley fairly cheap when they were relegated. They certainly wouldn't have been paying him lots. But probably still one of the highest remaining earners at the club. Where have ...

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

Yeah, just checked the last Club Policies accounts thread. We should get the accounts for 2022/23 in a couple of months, but for 2021/22 our wage bill was still £25m a season. In theory we were capped at iirc £16m last season, and given we failed to meet our business plan by selling players to fund...

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

And therein lies the rub - no matter how much you love your employer, if they stop paying you on time and you've got a mortgage to pay and a baby to take care of, you're going to become very pragmatic very quickly. Portsmouth is a good move for the lad, club on the up, within commuting distance. I ...

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

If we believe that list to be anywhere near accurate, we have seriously overpaid for both Dean and Mola. The rest are about what you'd expect given when they signed, current squad status, situation of the club etc. Button may be "underpaid" in contrast to the rest of the squad.

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

just having a look at the salaries of the players, and yes we've been here before, we know this isn't exact so we take it with a pinch of salt. But it gives us a ballpark figure. and the majority of places that list the salaries are all pretty close. In Nigel Howes' most recent interview, he said w...

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

A lot of people saying it's barely a loss, but we have just lost Holmes and Abbey. So I think it's a massive loss. Not just depth, but you know... actual players to actually field. Not only that, he is Mr Reading through and through. He's bleed blue. Obviously he's a professional who just wants to ...

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

I was hoping McIntyre was going to establish himself as a first team regular but injuries just haven't worked out that way for him unfortunately. Always liked him though, he has been one of my favourite players of the recent times, just a likeable person.

So tough to tell then, be a case of see on the day whether he does. It baffles me to think that we ended up getting a very good fee for a 16-year old in the short-term and the club is in this state where that has just evaporated due to our losses.

May we see Luca Fletcher play for City potentially? Is he a regular in their academy side at the moment?

Royal_jimmy Can't believe anyone would post racism directly on twitter. He'll have fun finding a job

Why is it a problem if they do? I see no reason why people shouldn't be made accountable to the public for their actions. If that person can't find a job because of it, tough shit, don't be racist.

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

3 wins in 23 is a poor record, but they are a poor team so it's not really a shock. They'll be bitterly disappointed to concede in the last couple of minutes of added time against QPR granted.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leyton Orient (h)

Obviously lower prices make a difference, but the real key to bringing punters back is bringing back the feel good factor and enjoyment in supporting the club. For me, is it really worth 4 hours travel each way to see a shell of the club I used to support? But first home game once Dai has gone, I'm...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leyton Orient (h)

Was thinking the same but trying to think of counter arguments as to why they don’t Would people just get bored of it and crowds just go back to normal days? Not sure they would Guess they’d lose out on season tickets maybe where it is a quid a game. Arguably I might not have renewed myself if the ...
