Re: FA Cup Changes

I think there is a disconnect between what execs and fans want. I always think of Wigan in 2013 who won the FA Cup and got relegated from the Premier League. Would I take that in a similar situation? Fcuk yes. You will never forget an FA Cup win, whereas what is the appeal to stay in the PL and have...

Re: Weekend Football

When I watch cricket and there is a review it happens quickly openly and whichever way it goes i do t mind but with VAR I just have an irrational hatred of the whole thing Also cricket is all about fine margins. Look at the size of the ball and how short the "pitch" is. Football has a big...

Re: Weekend Football

Those options likely to be some fairly hot water, given they've basically accused the VAR ref of being corrupt. Yeah that's outrageous. Hopefully a huge fine and their club account banned from social media posting. The PGMOL also have some questions to answer if they knowingly used a VAR who suppor...

Re: Weekend Football

Pretty much defines Antony's time at United that after the club lost a 3-goal lead to a second tier club, narrowly avoided defeat thanks to VAR, and then squeezed through on penalties, he is seen cupping his ears towards Coventry's players after the winning kick. https://twitter.com/MenInBlazers/st...

Re: FA Cup Changes

Could the EFL fight fire with fire and introduce more Carabao cup games? Say a couple of knock out rounds to whittle L2 and L1 clubs to 20. Then add in 44 Championship and PL sides and create 8 groups of 8 with a round robin stage, so 7 games each. Top 2 from each group qualify for last 16. Then las...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Burton Albion (h)

Traditional wingers getting crosses in need bodies in the box to be effective. Today, most teams play 3 central midfielders and only 1 up front, as they want to compete for possession. That means the returns simply don't exist on traditional wing play. Of course you could try returning to 4-4-2, but...

Re: Weekend Football

I'm trying to think of a similarly embarrassing Reading win, but can't think of any because when we humiliate ourselves we do the decent thing and let the non League guys get the day in the sun their performance deserves. I guess is Utd do the impossible and beat City today will be forgotten....

Re: Weekend Football

Pre VAR, they used to talk about benefit of the doubt to the attacking team for tight calls, which this definitely was. But similarly, linesmen are taught to leave their flags down now as VAR can check afterwards, so perhaps he would have flagged without VAR. Of course he would as it was miles off!...

They're barely celebrating. They're embarrassed, as they should be. Saved by a 1mm VAR call.

City will smash them.

Re: Reading FC Womens World

Hold on girls. From the risk of dual double relegations, looks like both will survive this season. F-T 1-0 we are not quite assured of survival yet but Lewes playing at the moment have to win to have any chance of staying up. Edit Lewes losing 2-0 Lewes lost 2-0 ROYALS SAFE- Palace champions and pr...

 https://x.com/NFFC/status/1782056187652960764 Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept. We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now cons...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

If the charges are PSR related then it will be heard relatively quickly to ensure the deductions are in place for next season. Man City's charges aren't PSR related which is why comparing the time being taken to get through their process to say Everton is pointless. I see, does that mean City's cou...

Re: Ups & Downs 23/24

Watching the Championship relegation 6 pointer between Blackburn and Wednesday. Have to say both look a great deal better than us and many L1 playoff chasing teams I've watched like Lincoln, Barnsley and Oxford. Obviously they would lose players upon relegation and be set back a little, but I would ...

windermereROYAL Obvious candidate for live tv coverage.

It'll be Lincoln v Pompey. They're the ones with it in their own hands and they're hosting the champions. Unless 2 are televised?

Would you lose against Blackpool to deny Oxford the play-offs?

So next week, if Lincoln beat Portsmouth, it's virtually impossible for Oxford to make the play-offs except crazy GD swings. However, this is a hard task for Lincoln. If Lincoln don't win and Blackpool beat us, it means Oxford need a win (a draw won't be sufficient). Oxford are away at Exeter who ar...
